Does New Religion Study Show that God is Cleaning House?
Godfather Politics ^ | May 15, 2015 | Gary DeMar

By now you have seen articles about a recent Pew Study report about the decline of Christianity and the rise of atheists, agnostics, and “Nones.” Actually, what we are seeing is a spiritual house cleaning. Nominal Christians – Christians in name only -- are becoming consistent with their shallow faith and are departing the church. “For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17).

Here is a very true statement from the article:

"The true believers of these apostate churches find their way into Bible-believing fellowships. We know that these liberal churches are the ones losing members."

What you are seeing is the Great Falling Away. The real house cleaning comes during the Tribulation. Stay Tuned. Maranatha.

The Final Jeporady question last night showed a statue of St. Paul the apostle and said it was on a Mediterranean Island where he was shipwrecked. They were to name the Island. All three contestants were brilliant professional people who had decent scores and answered scores of trivia questions correctly.

Not one of them came up with this very basic answer which any kid could have come up with when I was a youth, even if they were stoned or drunk.

I think the guy in the middle got it right but he still lost because the champ was so far ahead. BTW it was Malta.

As I recall, the answers were "Cyprus", "Tarsus" and "???"

Anyway, it was an elementary question for anyone who has ever cracked open and read a Gideon New Testament.

One of the easiest books there is to carry around. I keep one in my shirt pocket just to drive libtards crazy. And, yeah, I've actually read it. Many times.

Not quite right... It is the churches in name only (those in charge of running them) that are shutting out Jesus.

Just the other day I had a customer ask me where I went to church. I asked him the same. He attends a church with “Christian” in it’s name. In the same conversation he explicitly denied that Jesus was the Son of God. He also repeatedly advocated same sex marriage, abortion, and democrats.

At least he paid me after I told him where I stand.

Heh heh.

Was on the show once and a one-day winner.

Going down I was joking with my wife about preferred categories. The killer apps for me would have been anything Biblical. Not because I’m so incredibly knowledgeable but because other contestants are so unbelievably ignorant on the subject.

Once watched a Jeopardy episode where the Final Jeopardy answer was to come up with the name of Moses’ brother and sister.

Nobody got it.

Cool. How much did you win on your one day?

They come to Pittsburgh every other year or so for tryouts. I hate driving into the city, but think I ought to go next time just for the experience.

If you get on, you are guaranteed at least $1000, right?

If the Christ had problems getting recognized for what He was in gospel times, why should we be surprised.

I guess we could go the whole hog and say “Here’s Jesus, God come to earth in a human body. Just love Him to the uttermost, more than any other thing, all your problems solved.” Believers would understand. Unbelievers would be incredulous because they have believed in scads of idols or things that serve as idols, they can’t imagine what faith in a holy Person would be like or that things could be that simple.

$19,482

That was back before they doubled the payouts, so it was a pretty high number.

Almost 20 years ago, so I’m not up on present rules.

At least back then, they also had tryouts every Tuesday at the Culver City studio. I tried out five times in nine years before I got on. The tryout is pretty tough for most people. They usually weed out over 90% just in the initial written portion

I take it you lived near Culver City so could afford to be persistent. Still, $19K at two decade ago prices was quite an accomplishment. I’m sure the IRS took their cut before you ever got the check. How long did it take?

Didn’t live anywhere near LA. But often traveled on business and was able to line up business with a tryout occasionally.

I taped the show in February, it aired in April, and I got the check, I believe in late May.

BTW, it’s not just the IRS. CA took a good chunk too for state income tax, 7% if I remember right, even though I didn’t live in CA at the time.
