When I was a kid in the 1960’s, we would go to the “Sea Lion Caves” to be able to see the sea lions.
Fast Forward to 1995 and they are in the channel to Lake Union in Seattle feeding on the salmon we’re trying to fish for, in one case, taking a bite out of one while my buddy is trying to real it in.
Fast forward to 2004 and I’m at the boat docks in San Francisco and they are allover the docks sunning themselves, keeping people from getting to their boats.
And it is a VERY serious federal offense to “harass” them. Still, most of the fishing boats have shotguns for dispatching them with all speed.
What happens at sea stays at sea. :-)
We need to air drop food for all the baby Sea Lions!!!!!! It’s for the starving children!!!!! If our actions save just one life, the trillions spent will be worth it!!!!!
Just one way nature is reducing the demand when natural predators are absent. Maybe there is an abundance of predators and they are waiting them out.

Normally, humans only keep animals around if they’re good to eat so the next question becomes “What do seals taste like?”
