Nearly 100 North Texas bikers joined hundreds of others from across the state in Waco on Sunday, protesting the continued jailing of more than 100 riders, friends and family members three weeks after a deadly shootout at a restaurant.
The North Texas motorcyclists gathered near the old Six Flags Mall in Arlington before taking off for the McLennan County Courthouse in Waco. There, they were joined by others who proclaimed their constitutional rights and held signs. Before the rally in front of the court building, they circled the jail and detention center twice.

Critics have argued that police lumped everyone at the Twin Peaks restaurant at the time of the violence in the same category. They say that most of those being held arent criminals and had no part in the shootout. Many have no criminal record, and those who do have prior misdemeanor charges.

It remains unclear exactly what triggered the gunfight. Waco police have said they returned fire after being shot at. They have declined to release detailed reports from that day, saying they are still awaiting ballistic reports.

I have seen a surprising number of FReepers who are unable or unwilling to sort out the difference between a legitimate pursuit of law breakers and the dangers implicit in a mass arrest and incarceration of innocent bystanders.
115 of those arrested in Waco have no criminal convictions in the state of Texas.
Looks like the MSM isn’t going to stick their neck out for the BATF turkey shoot in Waco.
Must be the lack of a local Democrat in charge. Or the video is very clear and it won’t be possible to keep the restaurant owner from making it part of the evidence when all of this goes to court.
“they are still awaiting ballistic reports” The shootings were in mid-May. Soon it will be a month since the massacre. Why is it taking so long for ballistics? /half rhetorically
Cue those low-information, gullible FReepers who come into threads such as these to demonize all the bikers and basically say the killed and wounded bikers got what they deserve at the hands of the government SWAT snipers and that those in jail (and their families) on unconstitutional levels of bail deserve that.
These low-information types must have lost their sense of smell because the stories being put forward by the police do NOT pass the smell test.
Waco has had three weeks to get right on the status of those caught in the roundup. Why are they slow walking it?
They (BATFE/SWAT) are waiting for the next giant outrage to occur elsewhere so they can come out and say “oh yea, by the way we executed all those guys in cold blood, LOOK SQUIRREL!”
The Duggars and the Jenner are excellent attention absorbers for the sheeple.
it is no surprise that some FReepers have liberal views. No attempt has been made (nor, imo, should be made) to weed out these ideological misfits. so long as we remain a dominantly conservative, constitutionally committed forum a smattering of fools, shills and plants is to be expected. The difficulty comes when they are taken seriously.
A perfect illustration is the hostile treatment being meted out here toward the Duggars by a pack of mad dogs. Sometimes the venom is too toxic and must be contained.
Amusing Ourselves to Death Quotes (showing 1-30 of 85)
We were keeping our eye on 1984. When the year came and the prophecy didn’t, thoughtful Americans sang softly in praise of themselves. The roots of liberal democracy had held. Wherever else the terror had happened, we, at least, had not been visited by Orwellian nightmares.
But we had forgotten that alongside Orwell’s dark vision, there was another - slightly older, slightly less well known, equally chilling: Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Contrary to common belief even among the educated, Huxley and Orwell did not prophesy the same thing. Orwell warns that we will be overcome by an externally imposed oppression. But in Huxley’s vision, no Big Brother is required to deprive people of their autonomy, maturity and history. As he saw it, people will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think.
This probably includes every firearm that was allegedly dumped *inside* the Twin Peaks, which had no part in the actual gunfight. It's the usual federal cast-net, trying to link those bikers to other past crimes.

I agree and usually don’t have a problem with them and simply ignore them. The problem comes when they go into their frenzy mode and post scores and hundreds of posts. And many/most of the posts are filled with non-truths and slanders. I think some of them are deliberately trying to create an unpleasant atmosphere on the site. I don’t expect a “rose garden” here (that would be boring and non-challenging-—and honest debate is good [iron sharpens iron]) but I certainly don’t appreciate those who try to make a “hell-on-Earth” atmosphere here filled with unpleasantness.

But I wonder if they included the government SNIPERS’ weapons in the ballistic tests?
Agreed. The ZOT! is always at the ready when most needed. Applied judiciously it is a deliciously debilitating device.
Speaking of mad dogs, some times one just has to do it. Not something to boast of but sometimes they just got to be put down.
Curious how the media handles numbers. I guess they were bad at math and so had to settle for journalism. First it was a thousand weapons. Then it dwindled down to 300 or so in steps. 300 to include, apparently, nail clippers. 1200 RSVP’d by FB as I recall. The thread yesterday said police expected 200. As I recall by 2 PM or so over 500 and growing. But this story tries to say one hundred. (I know it says 100 met to go there, etc. but you gotta read carefully to get that and from the excerpt it isn’t clear the author ever says, “where they joined a thousand” or whatever.
Point taken, of course. USA Today which we can post link only has a figure of 1,000 in attendance

At least 500 bikers attended the event.
I think I've read that, in the state of TX., you have the right to use deadly force in response to deadly force being used against you....no matter the circumstance...(?)
If you have made no life threatening gestures and a cop starts shooting at you without cause, you have the right to defend your life....
Does that sound right..???
How I spent yesterday.
