The panic that dare not speak its name: Hillary looks like a loser to Dems
American Thinker ^ | 06/06/2015 | Thomas Lifson

No Democrats are willing to go on the record with their doubts about Hillary Clinton’s electability – not even the gaggle of hopeless, sad-sack nominal opponents for the nomination: Lincoln “metric system” Chafee, Bernie “socialism now!” Sanders, and Martin “the guy who taxed rain” O’Malley.  But a shocking potential rival is waiting in the wings.

The realization is dawning on many in the jackass party that they have an unappealing, gaffe-prone, self-entitled, scandal-ridden presumptive nominee on their hands.  I called out the growing  subterranean panic three weeks ago.  Now with CNN polling revealing movement away from Hillary, the conservative press (here, here, and here, for instance) is joining me in highlighting the panic that the Democrats still fear open mention of.

The problem for the Dems is that their bench is ridiculously thin.  Leave aside the joke candidates already in the field, and all they’ve got is Elizabeth Warren, who, for all her socialist rhetoric (and personal profiteering from real estate flipping) and her affirmative action gamesmanship as a phony Native American, is a good talker.  But even in deep blue Massachusetts she was unable to deliver a convincing victory in her Senate run.  And perhaps knowing about more hypocrisy in her background, she is not anxious at all to throw herself into a run for the White House, with all the scrutiny that would entail.

60% chance Bloomberg gets the nomination.
Cruz and Walker need to be ready for last min switch-a-roo.

What do you suggest if it's a less-than-stellar Republican? Vote 3d party?

I will if the GOP-e Gringo de Mexico from Florida gets the nod. A Jeb vote IS a wasted vote.

but I'm not going to as a rule just waste a vote that will affect a few things positively for the conservative cause even if it won't affect most things positively.

Actually, we should be voting for people who will affect most things positively, vs. an imaginary perfect candidate.

They should recruit John Edwards.

Or Algore.

Agree on both counts. I vowed not to vote for Romney, but did because Obama was/is so dangerous. But Jeb is just too big a tool.

We just returned from one of our grandson’s high school graduation. He was one of about 30 graduates from a local charter school Kellar TX.

I couldn’t believe it when I learned that Senator Rick Santorum was the keynote speaker. What on earth was he doing there—the man is running for president of the USA!

(I found his speech boring, but he had some weak applause when he was done….)

It was just a shock to me, I guess. LOL!

It would really fire up their alleged base of “the little people” to have a white megabillionaire try to buy the presidency after having bought an illegal extra term in NYC.

Hahaha! That would be entertaining.

LS:

Ed Zschau for Senate??? One seat and all we had to do was accept baby-killing as normal for Republican candidates? No thanks! There are several non-negotiables out there: babies, guns, judges, among them. If we were to "accept" Ed Zschau and his enthusiasm for baby-killing, what are we?

You really had to reach back for that example. Zschau became the nominee for Senate against Alan Wimpy Cranston in 1986 and lost the election predictably. Voting for a Zschau IS throwing your vote away.

Before misusing Bill Buckley's quote, may I remind you that, with Bill's enthusiastic participation and that of Bill Rusher, National Review saw to it that Tricky Dick Nixon was challenged by the sainted Ohio Congressman John Ashbrook in the early primaries. Not much chance of successfully electing Ashbrook in 1972 but the effort was certainly worth it. I was involved in recruiting and deploying college volunteers in the New Hampshire primary.

I am ashamed to say that I voted for such trash as GOP nominees Nixon in 1968 and 1972, Ford in 1976, Bush the Elder in 1988 and 1992, Dole in 1996, McCain in 2008. I finally broke the lifelong bad habit of voting for unprincipled RINOs when the GOP nominated Mitt Romney (likely WORSE than Obozo) in 2012, choosing instead FR's own Eternal Vigilance.

Your last paragraph describes what is tragically wrong with GOP and its sheeple voters. You will settle for any old POS not labeled Demonrat. Good luck with that but I will never do it again.

BTW, losing the nomination of Judge Douglas Ginsburg, theb libertarian dope smoker, simply resulted in the nomination of Anthony (Sandra Day) O'Kennedy who waited a few years to become unreliable. Ginsburg continued to serve on the DC Court of Appeals and is now a Senior Judge. Note also that Douglas Ginsburg had clerked for none other than Thurgood Marshall at SCOTUS, certainly not without DoGood Marshall's approval.

If you hallucinate that Jeb is worse than Mittens, then either you don’t understand or apprehend the evil of Mittens or there is no hope for you. Not that Jeb is worth voting for either just more so than anything named Romney.

Bob Dole was Next in Line like Hill, but he didn’t kill anyone nor send top secret communications over hotmail. He didn’t even sell access to power to build up his foundation. Plus he was open about his sex issues.

Over the years you have proven yourself unworthy of serious discussion, and increasingly unhinged. Over and out.

I think that the John Edwards who speaks to the dead would be a more credible candidate for them than the John Edwards who was a Senator from South Carolina.

LS:

Feel free to run with your tail between your legs. That is understandable given your "proud" track record in the voting booth and your advocacy of trash like Romney.

You want serious discussion? Then stop treating elections and politics as Red Team vs, Blue team. Romney INVENTED Obozocare as Romneycare and sent his "experts" to help Obozo craft that disaster.

Romney, after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court handed down a ridiculous decision claiming that the relationships between two (so far) perverted same sex "partners" (both human so far) was somehow a constitutional "right" under a state constitution crafted by John Adams (who probably never imagined such a thing?), yes that Romney, summarily and eagerly ordered all town clerks to offer "marriage""license" applications to Bruce and Larry or Bertha and Gertrude or face Romney's army of gummint lawyers in court. Never mind that the Supreme Judicial Court made no orders to that effect but seemed to be functioning in their collective capacity as social revolutionary philosophers and anticultural "leaders" at large. And what about the "rights" of, ummm, dog lovers and polygamists and those who want to solemnize sexual relations with space aliens and those other Demonrats?

Even Obozo never organized a "business" to facilitate the grisly "work" of the abortion mills by disposing of the little corpses as trash or "medical waste" but Romney did. Romney is also at least as much of a liar as Obozo particularly on the abortion issue.

Romney's mother ran as a pro-abort candidate for US Senate BEFORE Roe vs. Wade. Romney's father, as Nixon's HUD Secretary wanted to deny mortgages to whites fleeing the crime and riots in the inner cities but encourage such mortgages for blacks fleeing those same cities for the suburbs. When Nixon heard of that scheme, he promptly fired George Romney. Ted Kennedy was probably more conservative than anything named Romney.

Only a Republican candidate can bring such discredit upon the GOP as to totally ruin it as a political vehicle. IF Romney had been elected that would have been the end of the GOP. Romney BOUGHT the nomination with an ocean of Wall Street and K Street $$$$$$ against a weak field. The only excuse for any conservative to vote for Romney was the brainless mantra that he was not Obozo. A serious look a Romney's record would have easily proven that he was worse.

Imagine Romney appointing SCOTUS justices and federal appellate and trial judges. Look at his track record as governor and the vile menagerie of leftists and social revolutionaries he inflicted on the Massachusetts courts. The GOP is a monarchist party. If Romney were POTUS, they would, with a few noble exceptions, approve his nominations. The Demonrats would also approve them since the nominations would be easily recognizable as participants in the ongoing effort to eliminate the vestiges of Western Civilization (i. e. natural law morality) in our country. If Obozo does the nominating, then GOP senators can grow backbones and resist or face primary opponents who will remove them from public life and keep them from further embarrassing conservatives by their political heresy and cowardice.

Romney would have dug his heels in with the power of the presidency against any effort to purge from the Senate "GOP" ranks such business marionettes as Bob Corker, LAMAR!!! Alexander, Thad Cockroach, Lisa Murkowski, Mark Nancy Boy Kirk, Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Robert Portman, John McCain, and Jeff Flake just to name ten who deserve to be purged.

With Romney having lost (thanks be to God), we now have candidates for POTUS in a GOP field including Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio (OK, he was wrong on immigration), Rand Paul, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and other quality candidates actually reflective of the GOP base and each fully qualified to piss on Romney's grave.

You confess voting for Romney and you have the temporary nerve to accuse me of being unworthy and unhinged? On a politically CONSERVATIVE website??? Well, if my arguments are unworthy and unhinged, you should be able to bat them away easily. You are not up to that challenge. So you run away. I have never noticed your track record here and it seems that noticing was unnecessary. Get thee to DU or HuffPo where you belong. Run, run, as fast as you can, they can't catch LS. He's the gingerbread man!

If the future of the GOP is to serve as lapdog to the US Chambers of Crony Commerce and Planned Barrenhood, then the GOP has NO FUTURE.
