Oh right, I get the distinction.

On the other hand, Walker was for a “pathway to citizenship” recently, before his abrupt turnaround before announcing his presidential run.

Neither stance is something I’d vote for.

They both have a lot of explaining to do.

Operation Wetback? ;)

Wouldn’t it have been nice to be around before political correctness?

The more I read of this TTP and TPA the more afaid this nation should be....to cut through the quagmire....it's giving away our nations control of trade and many other things to a World Organization.

This is why it's being hidden...and you get bet they plan to shove it through at the midnight hour and will leave heads spinning on how that happened.

It’s very depressing to know that Cruz is on Obama’s side on this abominable deal.

Understanding how far along the Globalist Agenda really is you see that this is not going to be stopped....nobody can stop this...nor any nation including ours.

It doesn’t surprise me any who think this should be passed.....the entire world is being set and at best you can tweak these deals and treaties but for the most part they are really out of the hands of any given nation....just a matter of who puts pressure on who and how to get co-operation.

IMO, support for this deal is without excuse. It’s hard to get excited about anyone who is on Obama’s side here.

Why Ted Cruz is Right on TPA......

It has been said that politics makes strange bedfellows. Well, there is no finer example of that statement than the recent votes on the Trade Promotion Authority. Free trade has long been advanced by conservatives who understand the need to expand our markets beyond our borders. On the other side stands the democrats and the radical left who fear competition and doubt America’s exceptionalism. Yesterday, the Senate cleared the 60 vote hurdle to bring the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) up for a vote. I for one, welcome President Obama to the side of common sense solutions, to help solve the economic disaster that his domestic policies have created. I only wish that he would use that common sense more often.

If you have listened to Ted Cruz speak on the economy, you will hear him promote the idea of free trade. One of the many reasons I support Ted Cruz for President is his common sense solutions to solve America’s economic problems. America has experienced a trade deficit for as long as I can remember. A large part of that stems from poorly negotiated trade deals in the past, high tariffs being placed on American products by foreign governments, and currency manipulation. The TPA is a step in the right direction to resolve many of the trade imbalance issues and will provide a set of strict guidelines for negotiations.

What exactly is TPA or fast track? I am glad you’ve asked. Trade Promotion Authority, TPA, and Fast Track all refer to the same piece of legislation. First, it is important to note that TPA is not a trade agreement in and of itself, but rather Congress establishing a set of requirements that the President must follow in every trade deal he submits through the TPA “fast track” legislation. By Congress authorizing this legislation they are able to have a part in the terms of the negotiations that take place with foreign governments. In addition to controlling the outline of any trade deal, they are able to force the President to share with them the details of any trade deals as he is negotiating. There are many opportunities for Congress to read and be involved in these negotiations if they really had a desire. There is also a requirement for public summaries to be released throughout the process of the negotiations. Once the trade agreement is completed it must be made available to the public before Congress is able to vote on it.

Without the TPA the President is able to negotiate any trade deal without any input from Congress or the American people. Even more alarming the President has the authority to conduct these negotiations in secret and only make them public when he submits them to Congress for approval. Once in Congress the process of buying votes and adding poison pills to the legislation corrupts the entire process. If we know anything about Washington, it is that its corruption runs deeper than the oceans. For these reasons previous Congress, both democratic and republican, have authorized “fast track” legislation.

Thanks for your explanation. Still, I can’t help believing that America is getting the short end of the stick from this secretive deal. Bob

The confusion is because there’s TT-A ad TT-P

Cruz wrote an op-ed on TP-’A’ that he does support. He’s not yet given his stance on TT-P becuase “the language” is not out there yet.

thanks for the info. I would be amazed if Cruz were making stuff up, seems some freepers may be confused. But if he was wrong on the TPA and tt whatever I really don’t care. He is right on everything else which is just amazing.

We don’t have to worry about Cruz making stuff up, it would go against his very strong convictions. He is the first candidate that I have listened to that I can say that I believe what he says.

I don’t expect a candidate to agree with me on everything, but Cruz is the only candidate in the race that has a 100% Conservative Rating. It is hard to find that these days and it will be hard to beat his record. If you haven’t visited his website tecruz.org, you can see there pages of bullet point accomplishments. It’s amazing and worth a look.

So glad you are supporting him. Thanks for your comments.:)

Increasing visas for legal skilled workers I can somewhat understand.

I can neither understand it nor condone it, nor support politicians who think a 5X increase in H1Bs is an ok thing. I am a computer software professional and our industry had been under systematic attack by the Chinese and Hindus for 20 years now. It' has destroyed the prevailing wage, been a big factor in outsourcing, and made the industry a huge sweat shop.

Two thumbs down on my H1Bs.

I suspect that you are not in an industry that has been targeted. There is *no reason whatsoever* that we can not train our own young people to be computer software professionals. None.

LOL, I am an engineer and I did avionics software for 16 years.

If you took an unbiased look at our education system, you would see exactly why our students cannot be trained. I guess you’re in the group here that think our liberal education system is great.

Pretty weird for a conservative website, and with volumes of data showing the decline of education standards.

Come now Ted get your head out of Obama’s backside.

I listened to the townhall the Monday after. IIRC, Ted supports fast-track and opposes the trade agreement.

He said he supports fast-track because without it a trade agreement will be impossible to reach and, because fast-track will last for 6 years, 1.5 years will be under Obama while 4.5 years could be under a Republican administration.

His explanation seemed within the bounds of reason to me.

BTW, I am not for increasing immigration in any shape or form, legal or illegal.

Wecare already invaded, with many groups refusing to assimilate.

And American workers should be first. It is situations like yours in which I can see the justification for unions. Limited justification, to put American jobs first and not deflate wages.

I just see how our dumbed-down education system has created a whole slew of problems, completely intentional and following the Coward-Piven plan.

I wish you the best in your career. It has to be exceedingly frustrating.

I think what Cruz supports is legal work permits. Those have to be renewed periodically. I think he will limit the number of those,
