FIFA Scandal: Interpol Issues 'Red Notices' For Six Mentioned in Indictment

Interpol issued wanted-person notices Wednesday for six people accused by the Department of Justice of being involved in a vast corruption network surrounding soccer's FIFA governing body.

The so-called "red notices" — which do not have the power of an international arrest warrant — were issued at the request of U.S. authorities, Interpol said in a statement.

Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner and former FIFA executive committee member Nicolás Leoz were the top names on Interpol's list, followed by Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis, all heads of marketing businesses based in Argentina, and José Margulies, who runs Brazilian broadcasting firm Valente Corp. and Somerton Ltd.

Interpol said the charges included "racketeering, conspiracy and corruption."

Interpol issues its red notices to inform member countries that a judiciary authority has issued an arrest warrant and is seeking the location of the defendants "with a view to extradition or similar lawful action."

It has zero impact, but you have to stand back and admire this game.

For an entire year, the Chicago folks went as far as possible in bribing the insiders for FIFA and getting the games held there in 2018. Toward the end of 2010...the President himself goes over to Europe and does the final appeal and figures everything is lined up. Well....it wasn’t enough (they didn’t lobby every single voter on the committee apparently). When they left Europe....I think the President was shocked and peeved, and told the Justice Department to take the FIFA guys apart. It’s taken four years but they’ve isolated the committee folks and know who took what bribe.

This is payback for 2010, and the whole top level of FIFA will either walk away or be put away in some jail. They have been playing for bribes for decades....but it was the way they handled the Chicago deal that triggered this event.

My humble guess is that a couple of the FIFA guys have evidence sitting there on Chicago bribes and at the right time....will hint to the Justice Department that they’ve got recordings of various city folks. At that point, the whole thing will fall apart and people avoid court action.

The Clinton foundation could be mixed up in this.

And it may only be the beginning. Watch for legal cases from European, South American and eastern Asian countries as they ask if bribe money earmarked for FIFA were laundered through various financial institutions in the places I mentioned in violation of national and international banking laws.

I love how our drove by media is sooooo outraged over this but could care about the same or worse actions by the Clinton Foundation. I was watching CNN and they were breathlessly covering the FIFA scandal. Turned over to FOX and they were describing a fact pattern of bribery and kickbacks. I thought, “enough of FIFA!!” Turns out they were talking about the Clintons.

I agree. In fact, watch for the International Olympic Committee and the Formula One Group (the consortium of companies that run Formula One racing, lead by the controversial Bernie Ecclestone) to ‘fess up and make amends before they too become targets of legal and tax authorities around the world.

Clearly the accused have just one way out -- they all need to run for POTUS. They'll never be investigated again.

I didnt realise FIFA was anything to do with soccer. I thought it was just a gigantic money laundering operation...

You should give yourself a big pat on the back. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE in Europe knows FIFA is riddled with graft and corruption. They’ve known about it for years, but nobody either dares or can be bothered to do anything about it. Its taken the Americans (specifically the FBI) to take the stand. Well done you lot.
