It has always been held that contracts or agreements signed under duress/coercion/extortion are invalid.

Has it been set as legal or illegal to demand a “don’t sue us” notice for bond?

It has always been held that contracts or agreements signed under duress/coercion/extortion are invalid. That was the formula that freed the crew of the USS Pueblo. The US gave NK it's demanded apology but the written apology was preceded by an oral statement that it was done only to secure the release.
