US Republican Senator John McCain has called for the gradual removal of the country's lethal arms embargo on Vietnam "as soon as possible".

Senator McCain made the remarks on Saturday (May 30) on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue, arguing that Vietnam needs to be given the means to further deter "assertive behaviour" by Beijing in the South China Sea.

"We'd like to see them have great capability, particularly with weapons that are defensive in nature, that could be used in the case of a crisis situation between Vietnam and China," he said.

This crazed lunatic is looking for yet ANOTHER place to spread his misery. I cannot be happy in any way about Obama, but I actually think McCain would have been even worse as president.
I never thought I would feel that way.

He’s deranged.

Dumb ass. In case McCain forgot, China had no problem giving Viet Nam all the weapons it wanted before. Let them use the arms China gave them to defend themselves.

Sure, why not arm them? I mean, I purchased portable cooler the other day, nicely made only to find out it was made in Viet Nam. I was floored. I had older brothers of my friends killed there during the war, and we’re importing from them. Why not sell them some of our stuff?

The world is crazy from the crazy politicians we’ve had running this country.

“Do the math (Doug)”, may just be speaking of personal experience.

McCain a prime example of why the 17th Amendment to the United States Constitution should be repealed

He (McCain) is insane

What does that say about the US Senators who elected him to be Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee?

SCREW VIETNAM!

The reason VietNam fell to the communists is because the majority of the population didn’t give a damn one way or the other.

As soon as the rice farmers heard the rumor that the communists were going to take away ownership of private property and disburse it to the “poor” they went hog crazy to support the effort. Kind of like here in the U.S. where the bums and illegal invaders are waiting for the fall of our country into INCOME EQUALITY.

As a VietNam era vet, I totally blame the people of Viet Nam for the situation they now find themselves in. We should not have lost a single soldier over there.

Now, we find ourselves fighting a war in the desert lands that has Europe sitting on the sidelines letting us do the work while the problem is really theirs...not ours. AMERICA IS SELF-SUFFICIENT in the only product that comes from that area...OIL while Europe is not.

Stability in foreign lands is the responsibility of all free nations TOGETHER....not just the U.S....and that ain’t happening!

Not much. But positions like that are seniority based more than they are based on competency IMO.

That Stockholm Syndrome stuff can do some series damage to the brain. If Cindy could only realize that she has it and would be able to walk away from that creep, and take all her beer money with her too of course.
