Both rebel forces and the Islamic State are on the march in Syria. Islamist opposition groups have advanced in the south near Daraa and in the north in Idlib; the Islamic State, meanwhile, last week conquered the central city of Palmyra. President Bashar al-Assads regime is clearly under strain, but rumors of its impending demise are greatly overstated.
While Assad and his Iranian allies are increasingly struggling to field enough forces to protect strategically important areas, they have nonetheless moved aggressively to prevent regime collapse. Using cash and coercion, Assad has launched new efforts to bolster troop levels and engender further loyalty. Just last week, the Syrian regime announced its hope for a $1 billion credit line from Tehran to continue the fight. More importantly, Iranian-backed foreign-fighter recruitment and deployment have increased dramatically. With these efforts, the wheels are now in motion for the regime not only to contain rebel advances, but also to push them back.

Yep. Everything worked out so well without Gaddafi.
Cue Aerosmith on :”I’M BACK!!, I’m back inside again! I’m Back!!”
They are just waiting for Obama to free up the
Iranian billians...
Not rooting exactly but don’t think we should be helping ISIS defeat him.
A look at the map. Without Assad, ISIS has a corridor to the Med. Can't imagine how that wouldn't be civilization-ending.
Oh, Look Out!!
This puts the US in a pickle. If we bomb to help our USA back/trained terrorists, we are also helping ISIS. If we abandon our USA backed terrorists, they will quit and join ISIS making them more powerful. How did we get so far into this mess
Bomb them all.
Let their Moon God sort them out.
I for one don’t care who he kills or how he kills.
Same here.
I don’t understand, and really if I had to wager neither does our government.
One day Al-Queada is the mortal enemy. The next day ISIS a group we never heard of is the new evil enemy. Could it be because the fear of AQ was going stale, and those on top want a public that is fearful, thus justifying the surveillance state?
So someone creates a new ISIS group with terrorizing cruel videos. Nobody talks about AQ anymore and their ties with the Saudis evaporate. We can’t forget that the Saudis did play a big part in 9-11 according to what some claim in a 20+ page redacted document and they are pitching a scenario to take out a Syria that was never our problem.

I don’t remember Assad ever attacking us. He kept the radical Muslims and anarchy in check, just as Saddam and Ghadaffi did. This can of worms once opened has become a massive unsolvable problem and a question of reality and what is real.
Morsi too......
0bama, Juan and Linda....
Start with Saudi Arabia and work outwards.
He should use chemical warfare.
We should use chemical warfare.
Moslems ausrotten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back *in the saddle* again, but yeah, that works.
