Why are so many GOP candidates conservative? Blame it on the Republican primary electorate that has moved so far right that it brooks no deviation.
So goes the eternal Washington game of the liberal elite. This time the player trying to game the GOP is The Washington Posts E.J. Dionne, who penned a Memorial Day column titled: The GOPs Shape Shifters: The Rights Political Correctness. Heres a bit of what the uber-left wing Mr. Dionne had to say, doubtless delighting with the image of playing with the GOP talking heads and minds that absorb his column:
Accommodating right-wing primary voters poses real risks to the party in next years elections. Its candidates messages on immigration and gay marriage could hurt the GOP with, respectively, Latinos and the young. But the greater loss is that none of the leading Republicans is willing to offer a more fundamental challenge to the partys rightward lurch over the past decade. L. Brent Bozell III, a prominent activist on the right, could thus legitimately claim to The Post: The conservative agenda is what is winning the field. Where, for example, is the candidate willing to acknowledge that, like it or not, theres no way that anywhere close to all Americans will be able to get health insurance unless government plays a very large role? Where is the Republican who will admit that if the party had its way on further tax cuts, many programs Americans like would fall by the wayside?
Got that? Unless the GOP supports Obamacare, illegal immigration, tax increases and the liberal view of social issues - the GOP is toast. Finished. Kaput.
Newsflash: the game E.J. Dionne is playing in the Washington Post in May of 2015, is the same game the liberal media was playing back in December of 1964.

Well we don't. And putting forth another Romney isn't going to make the democrats like us!
To quote Goldwater at the '64 convention, "those who join us in all sincerity, we welcome. Those who do not favor our cause, we don't expect to enter our ranks in any case!"
Why do so many 'conservatives' heed the advice of liberals.
Everyone always assumes the youthful generation is always going to be permanently radical and never change their opinions in their lives.
I’m sure there’s plenty of so-called ex-hippies who voted for Reagan.
E.J. Dionne is a moron. Literally.
Ah.com’on you don’t really want us to start a list, duya?
looking at him will tell one that...once he starts his Chris Mathews type slobbering it becomes truth
E.J. Dionne, "concern troll"...
I find it hilarious when scribblers like Dionne are astonished that some people have a different view of things than they do. It’s like they’re flabbergasted that anybody could possibly oppose the welfare state and all the “wonderful” things Big Government has done for the country. I seriously think someone should sit down with Dionne and try to explain to him conservative theory.
I think many conservatives are created when they become tax-payers and discover how many parasites are living off their hard work.
The war on poverty has been a disaster. It has resulted in a dramatic growth in single parent households.
Trillions have been wasted.
Where’s the ‘blood and treasure’ meme for this war?
But I think there are actually real bleeding hearts like Dionne who firmly believe they're doing good. Dionne is actually one of the rare religious Dems. He thinks he's helping people. What he is doing is just fastening more chains around their legs preventing them from escaping the quagmire of gov. aid.
Sorry, respectfully disagree. There’s nothing he writes that is worth reading.
“Sorry, respectfully disagree. Theres nothing he writes that is worth reading.”
The piece isn’t BY E.J. Dionne. It’s about his idiotic notions, and the history to back it up, going back to Goldwater.
