Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
H. L. Mencken
US editor (1880 - 1956)
While recent history has shown that the intelligence of the American people is unquestionably something not to be counted on, acting with an appalling lack of good judgement, common sense akin to being ethereal including having shown an overwhelming inability at self-preservation, there are some things they're far too keen to fall for.
An "implantable body antenna" (with an easy, simple method of implantation surely the device, method of implantation as suggested by the president)has got to be by far the worst, most extreme, hare-brained governmental idea ever conjured up in the name of science.
Given the history of science and governmental collaboration, the device itself would surely prove to be prone to error and mishap. But it's not the invasive attempt at keeping tabs on america's health that gets me, its the very brazen idea of just such a cockamamie device being concocted by scientists in collaboration with the government with such abject brazen temerity, the unctuous clueless stupidity that Americans would not be in opposition to having an implantable antenna inserted int o their bodies for scientific reasons as excuse the reaction to which that boggles the mind.
As second choice, I suggest all Americans be wired the way tracked animals are. Instead of having it inserted internally, let them place the antenna on a device hooked to a fixed location on top of the head.

I had a FReeper jump all over my back a few months ago for daring to raise concerns about such things. I can handle differences of opinion but the level of discourse around here has been taking a turn for the worse with so much infighting.
Glad to see others aren't so pleased to be "plugged into" the internet of things.

My mother has an antenna implanted.
Within a few minutes the technician can download her heart/pacemaker history and make adjustments and recommendations.
Really cool.
To: lbryce
Do they have one of those so I can listen to Rush and Levin?

The current generation of pacemakers from Merlin connect wirelessly to a monitoring unit from about 6 feet away. That unit connects via wireless to your local ethernet and then to the server at the hospital. I have one installed.
