I have no problems about the need to go after crime, but it could get out of hand and become political.

The Swiss are heavily involved (they actually made the arrests) and word is other countries are lining up. There’s even talk of a bunch of countries leaving FIFA and starting a new group. There’s a lot of corruption fatigue.

Did they or did they just say they were ‘amenable’ to it? Wouldn’t it take an Act of Congress to revoke their status, or just an Executive Order from The One?.............

Next, they should go after the International Olympics Committee.

No they joined the rest of the leagues and gave it up. They still won’t pay anything in taxes because the league is a trade organization with basically no revenue of its own. And they gain secrecy as they no longer will need to make their books public.

Last time the Olympics were in the US, people were implemented in corruption. Now the World Cup comes to the US and FIFA officials are implicated in corruption. My colleagues in Europe and S. America all know FIFA is corrupt but no balls to go after them because of the coveted World Cup.

I would like the DOJ to go after the NCAA to see if this morally corrupt organization has evolved into criminally corrupt.

Good point. If this was done with communication with and encouragement from other major soccer powers, my concern is resolved.

Probably. This thing is big. The Swiss are running their own process that’s separate from ours though they’re co-operating. The US charges involve incidents going all the way back to the 90s.

this is just to break the seal. No one wants to be first. The FBI will just start handing out evidence and the other nations will start lining up. I just read that the Swiss formerly filed their own charges. I imagine it will be like dominos lining up now..

FIFA is as corrupt as the day is long, and it runs the most popular sport in the world.

For a change, I don’t care if it’s political. The people running that organization are in it up to their armpits and I’m glad to see it. If I worked for the International Olympic Committee, I’d be sweating bullets too over this.

Frankly I’m surprised this story got pulled from Breaking last night when it broke. This is the year’s biggest sports story.

I suspect that the JUST US Dept. is doing this to send a “warming” to the major sports organizations, for example, the NFL.

I completely disagree. The NFL is a bunch of choirboys compared to FIFA when it comes to corruption. And it's corruption that has allowed over US$100 million in accepted bribes over the last 20 years and rampant match fixing to go on--including a very ugly match-fixing scandal that was operated out of Singapore and only stopped in 2011.

This is the year’s biggest sports story.

Might be in the running for biggest sports-related story of the decade when all's said and done... unless the follow-up uncovers ties to the IOC and brings it down, but then, I guess it's all one even bigger story.

If the chain of corruption is completely rolled up, it's not hyperbole to think this could be the biggest sports-related story ever.

It’s their books. Most companies don’t open them to the public, but it’s a requirement of being tax exempt.

I don’t care about FIFA. Most European bureaucrats are on the take—it’s a way of life.

What about Hillary, the IRS and Benghazi?

Oh,look over here—squirrel!!!!!

I am so relieved that the full force of our justice dept. is arrayed against crooked soccer league officials.
