Yup. My PM40 was the same way. Sent it back once, still jammed after that. Traded it in on something else. Have never done Kahr since.
Really, no H&K P30L? It was good enough for John Wick but not for G&A?
The only change I'd like for Walther to make is the magazine release. It was hard to get used to.
“I believe that for whatever reason, double stack mags in 9mm are more reliable than single stack.”
Interesting. Would you have any conjecture why this might be? I can’t think of any, but then I am certainly no expert here. Your experience could be correct, but it would be interesting to understand why this might be. If it is true for 9mm, could the same reasoning be true for other calibers?
“What’s a 9mm?”
They are mostly used in cartoons. ;)
At the time I was ticked off that I had to wait a year and a half to get my Keltec PMR30 but in reality I was lucky. By the time I got mine the bugs had been worked out of it. I’ve had zero problems with it. But I do pretty much only run CCI Maxi mag through it.
I have done a lot of shooting with the 9mm. For whatever reason they have been extremely reliable no matter what the make or magazine size. I did have a Glock 17L which gave some problems. I later discovered the reason was a batch of magazines they produced.
I have fired thousands and thousands of rounds through other double stack 9mms and they all, including other Glocks have been 100% reliable.
I was once sort of surprised to get a malfunction with a Sig P225. I traded it off before I got another jam. Also had a few with an old P-38 and an S&W model 39. All those malfunctions seemed to be due to the front of the cartridge dipping down into the feed ramp.
Just playing around with loaded magazines and pressing on the front of the top cartridge, the single stack mags seem to allow the front to dip much easier than the double stacks. This may have something to do with the fact that the 9mm case has a lot of taper but that is just a guess.
Other auto pistol cartridges such as .40 S&W or .45 auto do not seem to have the same problem.
I don’t really know, that is just my guess.
I had one way back when. I recall that mine worked well until stolen. Long, rimmed cases have always been problematic for semis. Luck of the draw I guess.
I got a Ruger LC9S. Great pistol. Has, from what I can tell looking at the other pistols, smoother lines. It draws really well from a pocket or IWB holster. Its nicely balanced and easy to fire.

Maybe this is it. You may have nailed it. The combination of the taper of the 9mm with a single stack may cause more nosedives. Less of a taper problem with other calibers.
Thanks.
Amazing accuracy, very reliable, reasonably priced, comfortable in the hand, easy to shoot: very nice trigger pull; much smoother/less amount of force needed to pull the trigger and fire the weapon than the W PPKS. Experts who compared the Berea against the W PPKS concluded the Berea is also less fatiguing to shoot, which makes it nice for women as well as men. And the weapon is very easy to break down for cleaning. All in all the BT makes for a great CC weapon; Berea even makes a CC varient of the Berea Thunder 380 for those specifically looking from a lower profile weapon.
Like someone said: "Bersa is a very underrated weapon". Bersa is one of the best kept secrets out there, glad I found out about them.
Love the Berea Thunder 380 acp!
I have a 40S&W P30ls LEM with shorty slide release and safety.
But that is a double stack and the guns and ammo video is about the single stack.
I see they just went over the XDs as if it disappeared in the middle of the test. I have carried the XDM .40 cal. full size for the last five years 16 hours a day 365. I go to the range twice a month and shoot 100 to 150 rounds. No malfs or any other problem in five years. Only problem is with 16 round mag and one in the tube it’s a big heavy pig. I want to get a smaller carry and will go to the sub compact XD mod2 in 9mm and hope it works out as well as the XDM has. The XDM compact is so close to the full size I think it’s a waste of time to mess with.
Oh wow. Thx for posting this.
Sig P938 also needs heavier bullets, preferably 124gr.
Y’all are all going to probably laugh, but one of my finest shooting 9mm handguns is a Llama Jordanian 9mm, no joke. Also, East German Makarov eats any .380 (It has been converted) put in it and spits it out accurately to target.
Not laughing. I have a Llama (Argentinian) in .38 Super which is real nice. Early 80’s I believe. Friggin’ ammo is hard to come by and it’s hard to buy.
“XDS in .45” And mine fits in my front pocket.
And Ruger LC 9 “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
These are not pistols for the faint of heart.
I can tell you the XDS in .45 is a fine little pistol. Ate everything I fed it after 100 rounds of ball ammo to break it in.
