Ireland `changed utterly` by gay marriage vote [Traditional Catholic teaching rejected]
Zee News ^ | 05/24/2015

Ireland`s newspapers said Sunday that the country had dramatically changed and confirmed its emergence from the shadow of the traditionally powerful Catholic Church by voting in favour of gay marriage.

Tabloids and broadsheets alike carried colourful pictures of partying "Yes" supporters cheering the landslide referendum result Saturday as they reflected on what the decision meant for Ireland.

The Sunday Independent, Ireland`s biggest-selling newspaper, said the vote was truly "historic".

"A new beginning" said its front page, which carried a picture of a lesbian couple who plan to marry as others in the background jumped in the air waving the rainbow flag.

"On a fine day in May 2015 this country became a much more open, inclusive and modern society. With the mark of a ballot paper, hundreds of thousands of citizens voted by a large majority to leave behind those grey decades of a less tolerant Ireland," the broadsheet`s editorial said.

"Ireland has changed, changed utterly... in the voice of its young people, who have declared as one that nothing will ever be the same again."

The Irish Sun on Sunday`s front page read "Pride", with a picture of cheering Yes supporters.

"Ireland officially emerged from the shadow of the Catholic Church yesterday to show its love and respect to people who have suffered here for centuries," it said. The Sunday World, Ireland`s most-read tabloid, had jubilant drag queen Panti Bliss, a key figure in the "Yes" campaign, on its front page which read "Táll you need is love" -- tá meaning yes in Irish.

No, that land became a dunghill.

“And those who voted were under compulsion to inform their consciences prior to voting.”

What’s to say they didn’t try? They were tricked into believing that queers are “born that way”, and it’s not as if the Catholic Church is giving any guidance. We can’t even be sure the pope doesn’t support it...

Diversity is the destruction of Good

...Diversity is an anti-religion, and anti-ideology, a nepotism which promotes everything except one’s own family.

Diversity therefore equals the destruction of any and all religions and of all positive ideologies.

Because Diversity can only be destructive: whatever IS is insufficiently or inexactly diverse.
Whatever IS must therefore be destroyed in order to make it MORE Diverse.
And there is no conceivable or measurable end to it. Yesterday’s Diversity is today’s intolerable lack of Diversity.

Diversity is the destruction of Good; and it is the destruction of all types of Good - however defined. All are chewed up and spat out by Diversity.

Diversity is the promotion of chaos by the destruction of Good; and then there-naming of chaos as Good.

Ireland is no longer on our “to do” list. Our ancestors would be shocked. Thank God queers do not reproduce anything that resides outside a septic tank.

I went to Catholic school in Ireland for three years as a child. It was a horrible experience. The nuns beat the boys unmercifully. The whole experience was incredibly depressing. I oppose gay marriage but I can see why some Irish voters rejected the Catholic ways.

The strong Catholic faith & heritage of the Irish has been weakened by two events. The Irish free state movement preached a lot of socialist and secular ideas and many of its leaders continue to hold them now that Ireland is an independent country. Second, the never ending recession which started in 2008 continues to wear on the Irish spirit due to debt and job loss. Both issues seem to have lessened the influence of Catholic faith.

emergence from the shadow of the traditionally powerful Catholic Church

Christianity was the bedrock of what made Ireland a great nation. Now it casts a sinister "shadow" over it? Disgusting report from someone who clearly has no clue about Irish history.

A marriage cannot be gay. Only people can be gay. It’s same-sex marriage and the participants need not be gay.

Ireland has the same problem much of Europe has: With the exception of wealthy people, most of the best & brightest left generations ago to make a better life elsewhere. Now Ireland can play the enlightened country folk for the EU that feeds them...

Of course they have devolved. Romans 1:32 says that God condemns not only those who commit acts of sexual vice, but also those who "approve of those who practice them."

In the short run, this means the utter illegalization and destruction of the Catholic institutional existence in Ireland. Prime Minister (Taoiseach) Enda Kenney has already proclaimed that the Catholic school much teach gay marriage or be shut down. So if they "teach" it, they are no longer Catholic schools; and if they are shut down, there will be no Catholic schools.

Moreover all Catholic health providers will have to offer reproductive technologies to homosexuals (insemination, IVF, etc) or be shut down.

Mere speech or writing against homosexuality may be defined as "hate speech" and be shut down.

Finis.

Enda Kenny and his successors may turn out to be worse for the Catholics than Cromwell, who merely killed them but did not try to corrupt them.

"We can’t even be sure the pope doesn’t support it...

I think we can be pretty sure of that, babygene.

If Pope Francis is "evolving," he's evolving in the direction of "Let's be more vocal in defending traditional Catholic faith and morals."

Do look at the evidence.

Vaticanista Sandro Magister, writing for the Italian L’Espresso magazine, notes that since the extraordinary synod last October, Pope Francis has spoken out on questions like abortion, divorce, homosexuality, and contraception 40 times -- 40 times -- “without swerving a millimetre from the strict teaching of his predecessors Paul VI, John Paul II and Benedict XVI.” And, adds Magister, Francis has said “not a single word in support of the innovators” who want to “soften” doctrine or pastoral practice on these issues.

And --- the gay agenda specifically?

"Let's not be naive, we're not talking about a simple political battle; this is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God."

That's Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio --- now Pope Francis ---opposing a “gay marriage” bill in Argentina. Has he evolved away from that?

“The family is threatened by growing efforts on the part of some to redefine the very institution of marriage. These realities are increasingly under attack from powerful forces which threaten to disfigure God’s plan for creation.”

That's Pope Francis supporting the referendum in Slovakia (Feb 2015) which aimed to:

Don't anybody think I'm saying that Pope Francis, or any pope, is above criticism.

I'm just saying: Consider all the evidence before you reach a verdict, and then --- judge justly.

"Thank God queers do not reproduce anything that resides outside a septic tank."

That is, unless the Irish National Health Service (HSE.ie) can compel ob/gyn facilities to provide them with artificial reproductive technologies (artificial insemination, IVF, etc.)

On the other hand, they mainly reproduce by recruiting. And they've got the schools now --- all the schools.

Well, let me ask you first: What, in your opinion, would constitute trying?

The born-that-way argument is irrelevant. Even if one mistakenly believed that homosexuality was an inherited trait, it wouldn't follow that it was moral to act on that inclination. Many disorders are seen as having a genetic predisposition that requires acts on the part of the individual to express, e.g., alcoholism. If homosexuality is inherited, then the moral response is to not act homosexually.

In terms of the Church giving guidance, that is happening, even in Ireland. But people didn't take it under advisement if they voted for this. People are responsible for forming their consciences. JPII did a nice job on this topic in Veritatis Splendor which is available at no cost on the Vatican website.

As far as the pope is concerned, Mrs. Don-O responded just above this.
