MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia is ready to supply weapons to Iraq, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday, as the country struggles to halt advances by Islamic State militants.
Speaking ahead of talks in Moscow between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, Lavrov told reporters Moscow would make every effort to help the Baghdad government push back the militants.

The Bible Predicts that that Russia in the last days will make one last push to control world events. The prophet Ezekiel, in Ezekiel 38-39, predicted 2500 years ago that the country to the extreme north of Israel, Magog, would lead a coalition invasion of Israel and Palestine. The coalition would be led by a strong ruler who Ezekiel called Gog (Putin is a good candidate with his 80% approval rating). Among the nations that Gog would muster are the following; Iran, Turkey, Trans-caucus States, Sudan, and Libya.
Ezekiel goes on to predict that this invasion will be disastrous for Russia and its coalition nations. G-d himself shall send earthquakes, pestilence, and other natural disasters causing all the coalition nations to fight each other until all are almost destroyed...

Not so much prophecy, as it is the Russians moving into the power vacuum that Obama has created in the Middle East.
Despite our efforts, Iraq is going to eventually fracture into three nations, and the Russians want apiece of the action.
Isn’t it Iran and Russia who are supposed align against Israel?

Those were the days. And now the picnic is over and we’re stuck with the results.
Most educated folks I know who are also astute bible study types have the same conclusion. All say we are in end times. Our time on earth is very short next to infinity. I pray I am right with the Lord.
But if Russia supplies arms to the Iraqi army, won’t the Islamic State militants just capture the arms after the Iraqi army runs away (the way they captured the American-supplied arms)?
Russia and their allies Iran and Turkey may just have the constancy of purpose to kill the rats and keep the place clean. Not that that is good for US foreign interests...
I believe that is the point. Russia will use Iran to exterminate ISIS and support the Shia Government...(turkey may help in this effort as well.

Yes, you are correct...which is why boots on the ground in Iraq and Syria is critical for Russia
As much as I dislike a Putin-led Russia, I would laugh my ass off if Russian troops hit the ground in Iraq and Syria. Obama - and Hillary - would be apoplectic.
