I blame Obama for a lot of things, but an Australian magazine is not one of them.

A mother breastfeeding her child is representative of Obama’s America?? And here I was thinking it was just representative of mothers all over the world, including this nursing mom (who is in no way supportive of Obama’s policies).

Sorry, I’m not offended by a picture of a mother breast feeding.

20 Breastfeeding Benefits for Mom and Baby

1. A healthier baby
“The incidences of pneumonia, colds and viruses are reduced among breastfed babies,” says infant-nutrition expert Ruth A. Lawrence, M.D., a professor of pediatrics and OB-GYN at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, N.Y., and the author of Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession (Elsevier-Mosby). Gastrointestinal infections like diarrhea—which can be devastating, especially in developing countries—are also less common.

2. Long-term protection, too
Breastfeed your baby and you reduce his risk of developing chronic conditions, such as type I diabetes, celiac disease and Crohn’s disease.

3. Stronger bones
According to Lawrence, women who breastfeed have a lower risk of postmenopausal osteoporosis. “When a woman is pregnant and lactating, her body absorbs calcium much more efficiently,” she explains. “So while some bones, particularly those in the spine and hips, may be a bit less dense at weaning, six months later, they are more dense than before pregnancy.”

4. Lower SIDS risk
Breastfeeding lowers your baby’s risk of sudden infant death syndrome by about half.

5. Fewer problems with weight
It’s more likely that neither of you will become obese if you breastfeed him.

6. A calorie incinerator
You may have heard that nursing burns up to 500 calories a day. And that’s almost right. “Breast milk contains 20 calories per ounce,” Lawrence explains. “If you feed your baby 20 ounces a day, that’s 400 calories you’ve swept out of your body.”

A supermodel using her breasts for something besides selling beer. What a travesty.

I have no idea why this is even news...

I know the media may not know this, but women have been breastfeeding since women gave birth...

This is in line with an article about water being wet...

I know I’d sure love to see a photo of my mother breast feeding me... /s

The idea of seeing my mother’s breast out in public, or at any time as an adult, doesn’t cause me a warm fuzzy moment.

When a woman has her breast out feeding a child in public, a guy can purposefully not look in that direction for 99.99% of the time. He’ll invariably forget and look in that direction for a split moment, and when he does the mother will be looking straight in the face. Her take-away is that he has been looking the whole time until he got caught.

This is why I don’t want some woman’s anatomy revealed around me. I support breast feeding. I don’t support it in public. A baby can be fed directly before or after the outing.

You don’t have to put yourself on display publicly to feed the child.

Urination is a healthy, natural activity too, but if I was to do it in public you'd have me arrested.

Babies get hungry, and they cry, and they don't care what mama is doing at the time. I can see why it might be necessary to nurse in public. All I ask is you use a blanket...

So this is “Obama’s America” even though it’s an Australian magazine discussing a completely natural practice that’s been going on for millennia?

There are loads of things to blame on Obama. This isn’t one of them.

It’s posts like this the left points to when trying to brand us all “right-wing crazies.”

99% of the time, they’re hooters.

1% of the time, they are a lunch box.

99% of the time, I smile when I see them.

1% of the time, I nod deferentially.

As long as the child is really a baby, not a toddler and not a school age child I have no problem with this.

People get a little over enthusiastic about breast feeding, but it’s good to start kids off with it, and really it’s part of God’s plan so I don’t see why this is even news.

Unless, as I say, the kid is over 18 months, then I have issues.
