1,000 weapons recovered at Waco biker brawl? Not quite, cops now say

Police in Waco, Texas, have sharply revised downward the number of weapons seized after a deadly brawl in a shopping center parking lot that left nine people dead, 18 wounded and 177 facing criminal charges of engaging in an organized criminal activity..

Police said earlier this week they expected to recover 1,000 weapons but now put the number at about 320.

Snip-- The weapons recovered include 118 handguns, 157 knives and 43 others, which includes brass knuckles and chains. Some weapons had been quickly stashed -- under seat cushions and even in a toilet. Police also said an AK-47 assault rifle was recovered.

Swanton blamed the complexity of the crime scene for some of the confusion about the number of weapons.

On Sunday, members of five motorcycle gangs met at the Twin Peaks restaurant in a shopping center in Waco for what participants have said was a previously scheduled meeting to discuss common issues, such as pending motorcycle safety legislation.

“It’s one of the pure forms of Democracy.....big “D”, jus like a political organization or any organization..”

The meeting was chaired by the Bandidos.

Cossacks were not invited.

Some democracy.

The cops are about as accurate as the media.

Not-so-smart glory hounds make "mistakes". Lots of mistakes.

Maybe some of the Christian bikers used to be gang members until someone talked to them about Christ and now they are doing the same?

Thank you.

I surely agree with you Wayne. I have refrained from engaging these people since this debacle began, but I could not take it anymore when I saw some of these comments..

Unfortunately, I can no longer ride, as I could not even get my legs over the top of a Vesta, but I have very fond memories of my 35 years on a bike, rain or shine, and I met a lot of fine people, one of them a Bandito from Texas, as I explained earlier.

I would do it again and never change a thing.....If I was given the chance...

Biker clubs are fantastic social organizations and still serve the purposes they served when they began after WWII. They gave returning Vets a outlet and structure in their broken lives, this continues and will continue as long as there are vets and wars to create them.

That is the nub of it....and the real truth behind biker clubs and their origins..and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Interesting. Condemning illegal riots and outlaw gangs makes one a ‘boot licker’. Go Figure.

When the dead were named, most (if not all, I can’t recall) were neck/head shots. Wouldn’t this tend to suggest that those killed were at least somewhat stationary when killed? Doesn’t sound like a fluid brawl between rival gangs to me. On the other hand, if they were facing and firing at police it makes sense. I don’t know but this is an interesting incident to follow.

Your admirable Bandidos founder went to jail for murder.

Now I don’t know if you information is complete, but it stands to reason that you would not want a feuding individual at a birthday party for your son.

Oh. So it is not a democracy as I was told. It is by invitation only and the Bandidos make the invitations ...

Children, children, children...

The gist of the story is that holes are appearing in the original Waco police narrative.

There weren’t 1,000 weapons, as originally stated. 4 of the nine killed by police have no criminal records. And the question of over-charging still remains.

Try not to fight, k?

You are correct, the initial story is breaking down like a house of cards....

What concerns me is the way the media is handling this..and the commentary of some rather ill-informed people.

I notice you both ignored the fact that my description fit every one of those Cossacks and Bandidos, except in name and specific emblem. The fact is the general public is not going to learn the nuances of your sub-culture so those who don’t know which “clubs” to look out for are going to be wary of anyone appearing as I described. This leaves bikers with two choices, dress differently to disassociate from the criminals, or be assumed by the public at large to be one of them. I for one suspect many of the “clubs” enjoy being mistaken for bad men.

I have seen plenty of riding leathers that were not adorned in the fashion of the biker gangs.
