When it comes to just plain relaxing times you can’t beat a cruise. I’ve been on Holland America and Royal Caribbean and like them both, though I stick with the smaller Royal Caribbean ships. The ones under 100,000 tons. I can’t imagine what it’s like on one of the quarter-million tonners.

So who is the captain of this ship? Has anyone seen the Engineer Brandon Bostian?

I must be a really bad person because everytime I hear of one of these cruise ship mishaps, I just laugh myself silly. I really think those things are so pointless and overpriced.

X2 Appeals to me like having hemerroids removed or spending a week in Downtown Baltimore!

“They save about 10% on fuel.”

Heck - they're saving 90% now!

I happened to click on some show about “Engineering Disasters” and it had some cruise ship with an engine room fire that knocked out ALL power. I'm surprised that their aren't redundant systems located at various points of the ship. I suppose a redundant propulsion system would be pretty difficult though.

How about having some sewing machines onboard to stitch all the bedsheets together, and hang a rudder off the stern!

I like big ships.. Better facilities.. Wifey likes a smaller ship.

Although. Do you really need to zip line and hang 300 feet in the air over the ship?..

What next? Waterfalls with rocks ala Dunne River falls in Jamaica?

I haven’t seen a ship with skeet shooting in years. That used to be fun.. Never hit much but.. It beat whacking golf balls off the ship and trying not nail dolphin. :-)

Couldn't have been Tom. Here's here with us.

I have done everything but Celebrity and, despite their current problem, I like Norwegian the best. I like the Freestyle Cruising because I hate coming back to the ship after a long day and having to get gussied up to go to dinner.

We’ve taken the NY to Bermuda cruise on NCL a couple times. Bermuda is just a great island and a terrific place to visit. I think it has to do with the fact that the British empire still has them under their thumb. When bringing the ship into dock or taking it back out to sea you can see all the coral reefs that they must avoid. It seems like they have to go around the whole island before they can go to sea.

We like NCL the best too. Eat when you want and a table for two is always available.

Yep. Before we tried NCL I had almost given up on cruising. Ladies have a much more complicated wardrobe transition than the guys. By the time I got to dinner on Holland America, I felt like I had been trussed up like a turkey!

I really think those things are so pointless and overpriced.

I used to think so myself until I took a cruise...

If you book early enough you can get some very good pricing

What sold me was once you are out to sea, you basically are disconnected from the world...no email, no cell phone, no computer, no nothing...

Pretty much every whim is taken care of and completely stress free...

No way, the consensus of scientists tell us sea levels are rising everywhere. That reef is way below a cruise ship’s keel point. More denier untruth.

It’s gonna cost them big time ... looks like they are too close to Bermuda coastline to open the casinos.

Ha ha

We were on that same ship last March, 2014. It sails the Caribbean in the winter and runs away from hurricane season this time of year to the North Atlantic.

I hated the ‘freestyle cruising’ theme. Waited an hour more than a few times for a table for dinner with their ‘great’ system. And there is no bar or such to sit at waiting for the table.

I never heard of AZIPOD, so looked it up. Mounted in a "pod", electrically driven, with no propeller shaft, so unit can be mounted a little deeper from the hull to get a clearer flow of water.

What got me is that the propeller faces FORWARD and pulls the ship along, giving better efficiency due to water being less disturbed. AND, the damned thing can rotate in any direction. Gotta make docking a lot easier.
