I never heard of AZIPOD, so looked it up. Mounted in a "pod", electrically driven, with no propeller shaft, so unit can be mounted a little deeper from the hull to get a clearer flow of water.

What got me is that the propeller faces FORWARD and pulls the ship along, giving better efficiency due to water being less disturbed. AND, the damned thing can rotate in any direction. Gotta make docking a lot easier.

Great photos and interesting use of forced perspective. No way the guy on the right could be standing like that!

They also have bow thrusters up front, basically a propeller that is in the front that is perpendicular. That way, they can push the ship sideways from the pier, and can rotate it 360 degrees in place.
