I’ve Read Obama’s Secret Trade Deal. Elizabeth Warren Is Right to Be Concerned
Politico ^ | 05/19/2015 | MICHAEL WESSEL

You need to tell me what’s wrong with this trade agreement, not one that was passed 25 years ago,” a frustrated President Barack Obama recently complained about criticisms of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). He’s right. The public criticisms of the TPP have been vague. That’s by design—anyone who has read the text of the agreement could be jailed for disclosing its contents. I’ve actually read the TPP text provided to the government’s own advisors, and I’ve given the president an earful about how this trade deal will damage this nation. But I can’t share my criticisms with you.

I can tell you that Elizabeth Warren is right about her criticism of the trade deal. We should be very concerned about what's hidden in this trade deal—and particularly how the Obama administration is keeping information secret even from those of us who are supposed to provide advice.

Good thoughts M. Notice supporters of this crap deal have ZERO defense for our guys siding with Hillary and Barry on it? They stay quiet. (Well, It CAN’T be defended). No conservative should be even considering helping this TPP thing through.....or helping and supporting Barry....or helping and supporting Hillary.

"This president needs to resign."

What about the GOP Senators who are his co-conspirators?

The effort to pass TPP is very similar to how NAFTA was passed. More than 60% of the American people opposed NAFTA, and much of the Democrat party opposed it. But it was passed with a globalist Democrat president (Slick Willie) and almost unanimous support of Republicans in the House and Senate.

And, we had all the living ex-presidents travelling to the White House to join with Slick in supporting NAFTA. The globalists, or internationalists and the transnational corporations usually get whatever they want.

And, like TPP, NAFTA was sold as an agreement to “level the playing field”, to create American jobs and open foreign markets to US products.

When NAFTA was being debated, the US had a trade surplus with Mexico of several hundred million dollars. Now we have a trade deficit of around $60 billion.

I don't know what is in the TPP but I suspect it's very bad or the secrecy would not be tighter than the OBL Raid.

But I DO want to separate TPP for TPA.

It's conceivable for a good conservative to support the trade deal itself, in theory.

But to support the MEANS (TPA) by which it's being enacted PROVES all supporters are not the least bit interested in Constitutional Governance.

And any who claim it are liars.

I see no upside to buying a pig in a poke while running roughshod over the public in a way that calls to mind nothing so much as behavior last seen when Nancy Pelosi had both the gavel and a marginally more popular bill.

The problem is if it gets that far, we are potentially screwed beyond the remedy of the ballot box. The good news is the GOP is not the monolithic vote that the Democrat House was under Pelosi.

The thing that needs to die is fast track (trade promotion authority) and sunlight needs to be introduced into these proceedings.

"Why is the GOP siding with Obama to give him what he wants?"

Do you really have to ask?

"with the help of the ENTIRE GOP Senate"

The vote has not happened yet. We will see.

Let them stand and be counted - or maybe they will keep those results secret too.

If you think this kind of stuff is going to get fixed by a “fixed” election in 2016, you are living in a delusional world.

Obama is going to foist as much destruction as possible on the US in 12 months.

Yep.

And here's a snapshot of who got the ball rolling on NAFTA:

Back row, left to right: Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, at the initialing of the draft North American Free Trade Agreement in October 1992. In front are Mexican Secretary of Commerce and Industrial Development Jaime Serra Puche, United States Trade Representative Carla Hills, and Canadian Minister of International Trade Michael Wilson.

The only thing that is certain is the republic won’t survive a pantsuit presidency, IF it survives this one. I read that Florida did some playing around with the way it apportions its delegates to winner take all to make it easier for a rino to win.

"The vote has not happened yet."

Cloture happened with 100% of GOP votes.

Do you think something weird like this will not pass the Senate with 100% of GOP votes when it's crunch time?

The GOP is siding with the Chamber of Commerce. They couldn’t give a damn what Obama wants in this.

“but why is the GOP siding with Obama to give him what he wants.”

Because the GOP isn’t really the GOP any more. It has been
infiltrated and taken over by fascists posing as Republicans.
It was nothing more than a false sense of opposition until now.
Now it doesn’t matter any more. The stage is set for major
civil unrest.
When the sitting president gets caught red
handed cheating using the IRS and other federal agencies
against his political opponents and is still in office and
not one person is held accountable, nor will anyone ever be,
then the country, as founded, is dead.

Can a Congressperson really be arrested for leaking information on pending legislation?
