If true, then the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan has truly become a mutual defense pact.

Japan had better be very careful here not to provoke the Obama administration.

Funny. I was basically thinking the same thing, too.

Unless it hit the coastal liberal west coast, Obama would hide and go play golf and then have his flunkies trump up some horsesh!t about him in protracted tactics meetings in the WH Bunker on how to respond.

Thats VERY nice of you, Japan. But I think obama would prefer it if you did what he plans to do and sat on your hands and do nothing while america is being attacked.

The present Abe administration would; if the Socialists ever get the power back, all bets would be off.

The Chinese, in their heart of hearts, has to wish Korea would be reunified as a democracy. The Koreans have never wanted hegemony in China, and economic co-operation between China, Taiwan, unified Korea, Japan, and a revitalized US would be the envy of the world.

The Japanese are underrated military power. They only spend 1% of GDP on defense but that still buys a lot. I believe they are top 5 country in military spending. All their equipment is top notch and I am sure the soldiers have excellent training.

We missed a huge opportunity in refusing to sell the F-22 to Japan and Australia. Imagine another 100-150 fifth generation fighters in the hands of two of our most reliable allies.

Japan realizes that at the end of WWII we could have enslaved them, and instead treated them better than any of their far east enemies would have done.
