Who Caused Baltimore’s Collapse?
The Federalist ^ | May 18, 2015 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 05/18/2015 9:17:02 AM PDT by Texas Fossil

A better future for poor Americans trapped in Baltimore and across the country must start with a fact-based analysis of how we got here and who has been responsible.

Fact: The last Republican city council member in Baltimore City left office in 1942. That is 73 years of solid Democrat city councils.

Fact: The last Republican mayor of Baltimore City left office in 1967. That is 48 years of unbroken Democrat control of the mayor’s office.

Fact: The Maryland Senate is currently 33 Democrats to 14 Republicans.

Fact: The Maryland House is currently 90 Democrats to 50 Republicans.

Fact: The last time Republicans held both the Maryland Senate and the Maryland House of Delegates was 1897.

Fact: The last time Republicans held even one chamber of the Maryland General Assembly—the House—was 1917. That is unbroken Democrat control of the Maryland legislature since 1918, or nearly a century of Democrat control.

Fact: Seven out of eight members of the Maryland delegation in the U.S. House are Democrats.

Fact: The truth doesn’t matter to the MSM.

I see the problem. There are *still* some Republicans in government. It is an impurity which ruins the otherwise flawless utopian dreams.

New York City used to have a lot of social unrest--especially during the 1970's when the city came very close to financial collapse.

Today, because of Wall Street and most mass media companies based there, even Harlem and the Bronx are gentrifying really fast. Small wonder why some New Yorkers "miss" the old New York City. Yes, you do get protests every now and then, but the Eric Garner debacle was rightfully protested because Mayor Bill di Blasio created a climate that caused that tragedy to happen for all the wrong reasons (there's a good chance he won't be re-elected as Mayor).

Gingrich is the smartest “politician” around but he did not pin the tail on the donkey precisely!

It’s the un-educated, un-informed, illiterate, fatherless, room temp IQ blacks that keep electing these sorry, rotten to the core democrats! Nothing but nothing will change as long as that dynamic is in place.

So, hey, isn’t it about time that “democracy suspension states” are created and replaced by committees appointed and approved by the house and the Senate. To be elected, you must have a voting record at least one click to the right of the political spectrum. NO RADICAL DEMOCRATS ALLOWED ON THE “STEERING” COMMITTEE!

Freshman Congessmen or women with no voting record simply cannot serve on the committee.

Maryland would be a great place to start!

Who Caused Baltimore’s Collapse?

Three years ago two white Republicans got lost and drove around the 'black community' in Baltimore for over an hour. Just seeing white Republicans caused 'the community' to give up and breed lowlife criminals... and dissent.

Each black person felt 'dissed' so the hellhole that's Baltimore is the fault of Republicans.

Newt should know this....

Letting it collapse is not a useful option. Going out and giving solutions is. Want your welfare (housing subsidy, disability check, fuel subsidy, free phone, etc)? Then show up at one of the many community service sites. Feed the hungry, clean the streets, tutor children, dig ditches, etc. Earn dignity through hard work and not standing around on street corners dealing drugs to earn enough to pay the bail bondsman and buy another 40 ounce bottle of beer.

End minimum wage programs that shut people out of employment.

End the stream of embezzlement by public employees with unfunded retirement programs.

Shout daily solutions into the failed system, knowing most will scoff. Because eventually someone will start listening, or even better, demand answers from liberals why their programs are failing.

Here we have an African-American President appointing an African-American Attorney General to investigate the African-American-lead police force of an African-American city with an African-American mayor.

Obviously the fault lies with some white, conservative, gun loving, God fearing, Bible toting Tea Party member Nebraska somewhere..................

It doesn’t matter. It’s still Reagan and Bush’s fault.

If the truth doesn’t fit the Liberal agenda—make it fit—Must be racists! White-Black cops who hate inner city blacks. Maybe has something to do with black crime? Black gangs? Black drug problems? all linked to a “hate whitie” excuse philosophy taught to blacks from grade on to when ever they leave school. I blame the media, the colleges, the anti-Americanism in the Democratic Party (I am a Citizen of the world not the racist USA). Things got to change in this land or we are dead in the water. The Democrats need to see the old Socialist/LBJ plans are NOT working and change them. JFK did change—so to did Bill Clinton. Do we want to create a radical Black Population who will kill and riot if they do not get free stuff? What if we run out of money for tribute? What if China doesn’t buy our bonds? What if there is a big war? Do we need Inner city traitors ready to rise up to help the Red Chinese or IS? Why deminish the Black Churches who historically did such great work in the past? Jobs alone will not do the trick—a whole attude change is needed.

I welcome his input - particularly these days....

Maybe he'll throw his hat in the ring too. Everyone else is doing it. The R party is showing itself a fool. I have to believe libs are paying all these folks to run. Dilute the gene pool.

Agree.

Somewhere within boundaries of illusion, lies & deception is the reality of Modern Day Liberalism.

Result is always chaos and destruction.

Is there any chance of a Republican Governor being elected in MD?

Don’t think so.

Without that, who is going to force a reality check?

If you followed what entrenched ComDems did to Gov. Walker, you know what stands in the way of righting the Ship of State.

In the absence of some force for truth, the only option is a total collapse. No, not pretty.

Now, IF Walker or someone like him were to be elected POTUS in 2016, it might be possible to discuss your strategy.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is a Republican, and he was elected.

OK, I did not remember that. Shows how far I am removed from MD.

Has he got the balls that Walker has exhibited to correct the problems?

Umm, no, we can’t continue to put this off. We have to stand up and say ‘hey, your way has failed, time to try something different.’

It can no longer be ‘IF we get a conservative elected we can THEN start talking about how to fix things.’ We have to start fixing them, or at least offering the alternative. If the conversation is only a little more liberalism or a lot more liberalism, nothing but more damage will be done.

And yes, Republicans end up in the governor’s office, which pretty much means nothing when the legislature is pretty much veto proof and the cities and counties are overrun by liberals.

“73 years of solid Democrat control”

It hasn’t hurt Burlington VT or Portland OR. It certainly hasn’t hurt Montreal, or Toronto, or Vancouver.

Not really sure Democrats are the problem.

Your perception of Toronto permanently bars you from any possible future credibility.

I worked with rape survivors for a while.

Because Sharia is carried out behind the scenes, and because the liberal government refuses to hinder that in any way, Toronto has any massive rape problem among the children of Muslim immigrants.

Take your defense of that place and stuff it.
It doesn’t matter one damned bit how pretty the buildings are.
