Dear Gop Establishment: You Went With The Wrong Retread
crooksandliars.com ^ | 5/17/15 | Steve M.

There was a moment when it looked as if both Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney would be running for president. Then, apparently, meetings were convened in the modern-day equivalent of smoke-filled rooms, and Romney decided to bow out, allowing Bush to be the graybeard choice of the party Establishment.

More and more, it seems as if the party made a mistake. Mitt and Jeb are both sad emblems of an embarrassing past, but Jeb appears to be a worse campaigner than Mitt, and Jeb refuses to budge from positions that are anathema to the party base. What's more, the party's voters want a candidate who's an grudge-driven attack dog, which is why the first candidate to shoot to the top of the charts this year was Scott Walker.

I’ve read that “Walker is acceptable to the Establishment” and I think that disqualifies him.

I prefer Cruz, but that's not a correct understanding.

He was abandoned by the GOP during his recall and reelection, no money, no support, he was left to twist. It's why Sarah Palin went there and faced down that union crowd, it's why individuals from all over the US donated directly to him to allow him to survive.

Either Cruz and Walker, whichever wins is going to have to take over the reins of the GOP, going to have to use its machinery and make nice enough with the GOPe to be able to win this thing in the end.

That is the correct answer Unfortunately for jeb, though he’s running as a GOP candidate, he despises the conservative base so much that he can’t even pretend to think with his common sense- which is what conservatism is

Dana peri I was despondent the other day, saying it was a bad week for jeb.

It should tell him something. If it were after the nomination, the MSM would be reporting on how badly it’s going for him.

Jeb is as tone deaf as McCain and the rest of the liberal GOP

And now Graham threw in his hat and is defending Jeb.

My take is that he is jumping in solely to bolster Jeb. I believe JB is the clear GOPe and MSM choice. We’re going to find out just how much power both have. The question is, can they sell a refrigerator to an eskimo?

Walker and Cruz are the RINOs. Those being called RINOs now are, in fact, the Republican Party. They are the RNC and most of the Representatives and nearly all of the Senators- only Cotton voted against giving Hussein carte Blanche to deal with Iran. Many of the governors are RINOs, they do not comport with the Republican Party. The Left Republicans have long been in total control of the Party structure and are the mainstream Republicans. They are the gopes, perhaps but certainly not “Republicans In Name Only.”

And Cruz caved on Iran. Who do we have left? Trump (wince)?

I don’t want a “grudge driven attack dog”, I want a fearless guard dog whose desire is to protect his family and their home with all he has. That would be senator Cruz.

Jeb is too arrogant and elitist to compromise or yield to conservatives. Another way of putting it is that Jeb is a Democrat who is uncomfortable with straying from his party lines. He wants to do battle with conservatives, but is too big a putz to manage it. He and Hillary need to put their resources together. They could create an act called the gag me twins, or roly-polys. Obama had the Obamarama ding-dong traveling pop show. Hillary and Jeb can have the No Show.

Other than his mom, I don't think there's anybody giving even then slightest bit of credibility to the Graham candidacy.

Trust me. If they think Jeb is floundering too much, the MSM will be telling us what a statesman Graham is and writing articles about how he's the "hope" of the GOP.
