NASA: 10,000-year-old Antarctic ice shelf will disappear by 2020

(CNN)—One of the last remaining sections of Antarctica's Larsen B Ice Shelf is dramatically weakening, according to a new NASA study.

The study predicts that what remains of the once-prominent ice shelf, a thick floating platform of ice, most likely will "disintegrate completely" before the end of this decade

Ice shelves are extensions of glaciers and function as barriers. Their disappearance means glaciers potentially will diminish more quickly, as well, increasing the pace at which global sea levels rise.

They always use wiggle-room words; it is "science" after all.

In 2006 Al Gore predicted the world would essentially be destroyed be 2016.

How many square miles of global ocean surface?
How many square miles of global ice surface?
What is the average thickness of the ice?

I’m having a hard time buying major sea level increases.

What should happen in decent science, is this wrapping up section of a study that you publish entitled “Discussion” where you talk about why your hypothesis was or was not validated, and what may have been flawed in your methods of study. Some decent academics still make sure to include a “Discussion” section in their published papers, can’t say the same for the climate alarmists.

The underlying, and yet unspoken, presumption is that it is man-caused. The premise is that climate change is conclusive proof that it is man-caused, but that’s a huge leap that’s no longer argued because they can’t support it.

Claim That Sea Level Is Rising Is a Total Fraud

Sea levels began to rise 18k years ago at the end of the last glacial period. They have risen about 135 meters since then which is an average of 7.5 millimeters per year. That is an average of 750 mm per century (29.5 inches) which is far more than the average over the last century.

From 1880 to 2000 sea level rose about 20 cm or just under 8 inches. Far far less than the nearly 30 inches per century average over the last 18,000 years.

I thought Barry had this handled. Heal the planet, fix the ocean . . . All that.

now that I think of it, right after he ascended unto The Throne, the ocean actually began leaking oil. It doesn’t get more broken than that

That’s generally what happens to an ice shelf when it’s pushed into the sea by the pressure of heavy new ice behind it. Glaciers flow like extremely slow rivers. They are not static, just like the rest of nature.
