Police positively identified two of the four people found dead inside a burning Northwest D.C. home Thursday as a prominent and well-liked husband and wife who lived at the residence.

Police said the two victims were Savvas Savopoulos, the president of a local construction company and his wife, Amy. Police tentatively identified the other two victims as the couple’s 10-year-old son, Philip and a housekeeper.

Three of the four suffered blunt force or sharp object wounds, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said. All the deaths are being investigated as homicides and the fire was intentionally set.

The news came as investigators continued to work at the home on Woodland Drive, near the vice president’s residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory. . .

Local construction. Certainly raises eyebrows, although the MO is a tad unorthodox.

One of the housekeepers told FOX5 that she was at the home on Wednesday and that the Savopouloses, their son and a housekeeper slept in the home that night.

But on Thursday morning, she received a text message from the mother saying the family was sick so she should not come by. Mrs Savopoulos did not pick up when the housekeeper called and a text she sent also went unanswered, she said.

'She said, "I want to make sure you are not coming today",' the housekeeper recounted as she spoke to NBC4. '"Come Monday or any other day but not today".'

Contacted the other maid and told her not to come to work? Via a text message? That suggests better organization planning than one would expect from typical druggies during a home invasion.

Bizarre case. It looks like the Feds are already involved. I hope they catch the bad guys soon.
