The 39-year-old assistant conductor was listening in on Brandon Bostians radio conversations with a SEPTA train engineer, who told the Amtrak engineer his train had been hit by a rock or shot at.
The SEPTA engineer said he had a broken windshield and made an emergency stop, she said.
Bostian also said something about his train being struck by an object, she told National Transportation Safety Board investigators Friday.

SEPTA Says Commuter Train Hit By Projectile Just Before Amtrak Train Derailed

As post #2 indicates, that was a separate train maybe 20 minutes and some distance from the train Bostian was negligent in operating.
Yep he read the reports of the other train getting hit so thought he could use that as a way out!
How do you spell I-M-P-E-N-D-I-N-G C-O-V-E-R-U-P?
He also couldnt recall having a conversation with another engineer about something hitting the train just before the accident, Sumwalt said.
US G0vt.
Getting hit by a rock or projectile is one thing but how in hell does it speed
the train up to 100+ MPH? There were two separate incidents occuring
some 3 miles apart and several minutes in time differential.
Correct, hard to get a handle on this story. Hopefully, we will find out the truth.
Not a factor. 106 MPH in an area where it should have been going 50 ... major factor.
except the engineer hasn’t said anything about the train being hit. The statement came from the semi-conductor who overheard the conversation before the derailment.
came from the semi-conductor who
semiconductors are nosy little things these days.
did the engineer get hit with the rock or glass from the projectile? Might explain not remembering and the uncontrolled train. The track is fairly straight all the way from just outside the 30th street station to that curve. maybe the speed limit is around 100 mph up to the curve and he was knocked out somewhere after Broad Street N Philly Station. easy to chuck a hugh/sp rock from anywhere along this line. lots of muzzie churches around there.
Commuter trains share the same roadbed. there are 4 lanes two for amtrak two for the local trenton line. the inbound trenton train hits north philly station at 8:45 pm about 20-30 minutes before the outbound amtrak passed the same station leaving 30th street at 9:09. if i were the engineer going to new york i would be on radio with the inbound trenton engineer.
muhammad’s mosque of islam is three blocks south of the north philly station. Religion of peace don’t you know.
So how did the train get up to 100 mph?
So he was just speeding up to avoid another hit?
