Marines Practice Subduing Civilians Inside Internment Camps (Jade Helm)

So. There's a video out there and a bunch of blogs mentioning that Marines are practicing take-down and control procedures of uncooperatives inside detention camps.

An interesting factoid in _The_Puzzle_Palace_ (the definitive history of the NSA and spying in general) is that real-world spies akin to James Bond didn’t really exist until James Bond, at which point leaders wondered “why don’t we have our own James Bonds?” and proceeded to create such spies.

My reaction to the question is like that: our leaders act like they’re reading dystopian fiction because they _are_ reading dystopian fiction.

Oh, I don’t doubt the content isn’t new.
The problem is that _someone_ is the intended target for that practice (carried thru or not), and sometimes you have reason to believe leaders have decided that _you_ (i.e.: whatever group you identify with) are the intended target.
Sure, military & police need to practice taking down dissenters in internment camps or the like.
Problem is, the current articulated subjects of these practice sessions are...right-wing patriots.

Oh Yeah! You nailed it. They have no clue of the chitstorm that will be swirling around them if it ever gets to the point of trying to intern dissidents. At that point street riots with unarmed civilians will be the least of it.

In the early 70’s in the Regular Army in the SW I was doing this. The OPLAN we were practicing was called GARDEN PLOT.

I wish they would read some novels in which government leaders were not evil, petty, and insecure. Obama is too disgusting to watch in real life, and I cannot imagine that books and movies with people like him are worth the time.

Our Marines....I cannot believe that United States Marines are part of this.

“. . . real-world spies akin to James Bond didn’t really exist until James Bond”

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-21629270

“When naval intelligence officer Ian Fleming set up a secret commando unit during World War II, among those handpicked for duty was Theo Ionides - my grandfather. His band of real-life James Bonds helped change the course of the war.”

Ian Fleming was involved in several major successes, and his most famous ‘failure’ turned out to have been a diversion for a major success - although that goal was kept quiet until recently.

Agree.

Except for the urban setting, this is just typical civil disturbance training that infantry and MP units (Army & Marine) do on a regular basis to maintain proficiency. The “rioters” in the video were obviously servicemen in civilian clothing with nearly all wearing dayglow sashes around their waists to identify them as participants. The “injuries’ being treated were training aids simulating wounds.

The only difference I see in the video at the link is a lack of the massed shield and baton riot control formation drills used when clearing a street of rioters (e.g., the police and state troopers in recent Baltimore rioting).

This is important training for the servicemen because there is a vastly different mentality between how a soldier or Marine approaches a threat and the way a policeman would respond to the same threat. If you are going to place soldiers and Marines into these policing type situations, they need to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to do the work without unnecessarily injuring civilians or endangering themselves.

Interesting. There was an operation during World War II called Market Garden.

When we were playing Army in the field during the ‘90s (National Guard), a commander who was a former hippy ordered a special challenge and password for a day—something not in the schedule: “infant” “sandwich.”

It’s a conspiracy, I tell ya, just like in the movies. We’re out to get us.

If our forces don’t take over Texas, Colorado, California, etc., I’ll be ridiculing the conspiracy theories long afterward. Political speech these days is crazy talk.

more self deluded black Americans that think they are

Training maybe one thing, but I doubt US troops would round up innocent civilians and especially not fire on civilians even if ordered to by our dictator in chief. Obama is loathed by most of the military

Where are the freaking protest marches, where are the calls for investigations, where are the Harley parades and town hall meetings and letter to the editor campaigns? We’re gonna get what we deserve, kidz.

Agreed. They should be trained and ready to protect only areas like the Baltimore Gilmor Homes neighborhood in the event of enemy guerrilla (terrorist) attacks against infrastructure and people. And to honor popular political speech, after an attack on U.S. soil by foreign enemies, under no conditions should such a mission be conducted by our U.S. military forces anywhere outside of such neighborhoods.

In a more capable place, Neighborhood Guy is 400 pounds of command talkin', tacticool burnin' love (with all the accessories), and he's perfectly capable of taking down foreign enemy guerrillas ("as seen on TV"). His students are unmatched and attest to his knowledge and instruction skills.

And Arizona! You’re tougher than me to stay in that climate after being in the field in hot places. ;-)

This isn’t a video of the Marines...this is someone commenting on an article about the video.

It’s no biggie, since several here already posted that they’ve already trained in subduing the riff-raff and see nothing wrong with it.

How did you come across this nutter version stuff, in the first place?

Don't tell me you've been youtube surfing Alex Jones-everything-is-a-conspiracy videos.

The boy who cries wolf dumbs down & numbs out everyone within earshot.

Give Jones a little bit of truth (that *they*, some of *them* anyway, just may be out to subjugate/destroy us) and let him run with it...

After a while, nobody believes it anymore.
