WASHINGTON Congress is sending President Obama a bill that would give lawmakers the power to review and potentially reject a nuclear deal with Iran.
The House overwhelmingly passed the bill on a 400 to 25 vote.
The legislation, which Obama has said he would sign, gives Congress a chance to weigh in on what could be a significant international accord aimed at getting Iran to curb its nuclear program in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.

And the hits just keep coming today...
Am I the only one who sees this unfolding? I can't possibly be that smart.
Yep. I reckon the uniparty has come to the conclusion that we’re irrelevant. So they’re not even bothering with the pretense of wearing the mask anymore.
Thank you lesser evil idiots.
Correct answer : “We arent accepting ANYTHING that gives Iran SQUAT”
But thats not a lesser evil is it.
Wait...what?
So we “Don’t” want Congress to have a say? We want Obama to unilaterally do this agreement and that’s it?
Or am I missing something and we are all assuming that Congress will once again just roll over so Obama can scratch their bellies?
I am saying that yes Congress should have a say. The PROBLEM is they are ceding power here. They ALREADY HAVE THIS POWER.B voting on something they already have, they just kicked the door open to the dems to demand votes on other aspects of their constitutional authority.
This is a GIFT to Obama.
Bass ackwards
You’re most definitely smarter than Congress!
No you’re not alone. Many see this as putting Iran over the top to complete acquisition of nuclear weapon technology because $50 Billion of frozen funds will be released in 30 days from signing.
And the language that Congress can ‘reject’ is meaningless because Obama can VETO such rejection.
Congress has ceded Senate treaty authority to Obama.
I agree and it needs to be repeated over and over again.
Congress is making itself unnecessary.
This makes no sense ...how they can vote for power they already have....unless there’s something additional in what they’re passing.
I still say all of them realize they can’t stop Iran from developing Nuclear so ‘the ten year deal’ will give Saudi time to develop their’s as a counter measure against Iran.
They can because then it sets a precedent so that they can use it as an excuse the next time they want to give power up. And lets face it. They did. So why? Because fairly soon you will see an announcement for one official party. They giovern as one party now.
And one party does not need all that messy debate they have complained so publicly about for 6 years now in TV shows and print/web/radio interviews.. Just needs to ‘rule’.
Oh I do believe that....because 'currently' the World operates as this
I don’t know why so many supposedly intelligent ‘conservatives’ can’t see that outside they simply refuse to. A 4 year old can grasp it.
....”I dont know why so many supposedly intelligent conservatives cant see that”....
Because they are busy raising families and working...keeping on top of National News is difficult enough to find time for. Let alone know what’s really going on on the World Stage. It’s all piped in via TV and on line 24/7 and framed for consumption.
The Informed conservative generally touch the hem of what’s going on sufficient to know things are way off base.....but believing it possible that there are “outsiders” making the decisions for this country is just too hard to digest for most.
No, it’s because they don’t WANT to know or can’t be bothered. No one is SOOOOOO busy they can’t turn on a radio or read the web because reading the web is their entertainment today. Between cat videos and porn I’m sure they could learn the bare minimum. If the CARED to.
I agree to a point...but news today is not news....it’s opinion and framing accordingly. There’s so much left out it’s very difficult to determine the truth.
I’ve even seen it on FR, who generally seek the truth of what’s reported...but sometimes even we ‘take sides’ rather than “want” to know the truth.
I understand your point. But how hard is it really? Certainly no freeper has an excuse.
