The posts criticize a lack of safeguards to protect against human error, pointing out how fatigue, bad communication and cutting corners could lead to crashes. When others were skeptical of new safety technology, or dismissed the idea that an experienced engineer could make a simple mistake, he was often quick to comment to the contrary.

Gee, it sounds like he almost knew he would have to crash his train some day. Seriously though, listening to this guy and the NYT, I am increasingly convinced that Democrats, en masse, have no conscience. He was asleep AND it’s all the Republicans fault. Talk about old, worn out excuses.

Any guesses what the headline might have been if the guy was found to be a Tea Party Conservative? Anyone.

Isn’t that the kindest, dearest, sweetest little old headline you’ve ever seen? This precious little misfit loved his trains and fresh air. toot, toot! And little junior was “distraught” when him went bump, and now him can’t remember....
That mean ole train ran away with little boy blue and those wascally Wepublicans caused it.
Except for the main character in this death spiral, the media is the next sickest example of cognitive reality ever.
Everything is warm and fuzzy if you’re one of their social, cultural, religious, political perverts.

1. He’s gay? I never would have guessed from the picture. That’s like guessing that Barney Frank was gay - miraculous.
2. I don’t think driving a train is his career any more.

Friends have posted encouraging words on Mr. Bostians Facebook profile in the days after the crash. A friend whose profile said he was also an engineer at Amtrak wrote of the crash, Yes, it happened to you but it could have been any one of us and you are not alone. The fact that there is another AMTRAK engineer out there who thinks that "it could have been any one of us" is scary. (I may walk to DC the next time I need to get there.)

Next year around this time, the NTSB will find that it was a faulty disgronificator that caused the crash, which is related to the Republicans hating Obama by not giving him more money to waste.
