ANTALYA, Turkey (AP) In a distinctly different note for a military alliance meeting, European officials ended a NATO meeting with a spirited rendition of "We Are The World."
Taking a break from issues such as the war in Ukraine and instability in the Middle East, NATO and other officials accepted an invitation by a Turkish band to sing a "last song for peace" at a dinner Wednesday hosted by Turkey as the alliance's foreign ministers met near the Mediterranean city of Antalya.

yeah, I thought about that as I typed the lyrics. But I reverified that those are, indeed, the lyrics.
Never struck me until now.
A term to describe a moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity.
Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.

How about a stirring rendition of “Send in the Clowns?”
This is highly inappropriate behavior for a military alliance — which is what NATO is. But we can halfway understand this because, by this time in the evening, most of them were probably half-schnockered.
The disgraceful photograph can hardly be intended to inspire fear in our enemies. The whole scene is a fitting symbol for what the West has become.
