Update: Police have now said the boy who will be charged with the dog beating death is 10-years-old, not 11.
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) Residents in one Fort Worth neighborhood are shocked after Cookie, a Cavalier mix, was allegedly beaten to death.
Police said an 11-year-old boy chased Cookie out of the pets back yard with a stick, eventually cornering him on a porch then killing him.
According to the Cookies owner of five years, Jennifer Knittel, a concerned neighbor was key in figuring out what happened to the dog. Knittel said while she wasnt home, a neighbor driving by noticed something strange.
She saw my two dogs hiding under a pickup next door with a kid, an 11-year-old kid, kicking at them, trying to get them to come out from underneath the car, she said.
Knittel said the witness felt like she should drive back around and question the boy.
She said, Did you hurt that dog? And he said, No, its sleeping,' she said.
Ultimately, a blow to the head killed Cookie, cracking his skull and severing his spine.
The boy told police the dog attacked him.
Knittel said the witness told her Cookie didnt provoke the brutal attack.
I dont think weve ever heard cookie even growl. So for someone to attack Cookie it doesnt make any sense to me, she said. My dog was not aggressive. The little boy has no scratches or marks of any kind on him.
CBS 11 tried to speak with the parents of the boy the witness said was involved, but a man inside the childs house refused to speak.
I just want justice for Cookie, Knittel said.
The family is working with a private investigator to get justice and police said felony charges are expected to be filed against the boy.
Shoot the little punk.
You betcha.
My thoughts exactly, this is a very disturbed child.
Here we are talking about a sick little boy and you turn the thread into an anti-police rant.
You’re acting exactly like a liberal goof.
Maybe although the dog did not ever growl, it barked incessantly when the owner left her outside alone for five years.
The barking could have eventually taken a toil on the boy if he was very sensitive to noise and then he snapped. I wonder if neighbors ever heard him yelling “Shut up,” at the dog before this fatal day.
Often folks with constantly barking dogs are half-deaf from loud music or just inured to constant noise. They mistake leaving yappers outside in a neighborhood with living out in the country isolated from others.
Sounds like liberal exaggeration. Would you next like to call me a bigot-sexist-homophobe?
Do they even have institutions for that anymore? Seems like the libs got rid of them all and replaced them with mediocre therapy sessions.
Lock this monster kid up and throw away the key. Before he kills a baby or toddler. He is definitely an A-one example of a “bad seed”.
The best bet for the judge would be to order the boy to get his “head candled” by at least two psychiatrists, to determine if he is likely to be a life long risk psychopath club member.
I would not sleep in the same house with that kid.
I wouldn’t, either. He’s dangerous to society, and probably will be for the rest of his life.

The little bastard chased the dog from its own yard and killed it.
We had a kid like this in our neighborhood when I was a child. Totally nuts. Good family, other children were normal. He tortured animals, set fires in the woods and finally tied his little sister to a bed and set it on fire. The parents got to her in time. I’m sure he ended up in prison at the very least.
We had a kid like this in our neighborhood as well. His father was an ex-con, and he (the son) shot at our house when he was in grade school. Eventually, we moved due to unrelated events.
I’d be surprised if he hasn’t been in prison multiple times.
This was a nice neighborhood, too.
your story sounds like “Stand by Me”....
Future serial killer, or cop ... whut?
Personally if it were me, I’d beat the living sh1t out of that kid.
Yup!
Yep.
yes, i think the libs got rid of most public institutions. that’s why we so many mentally ill people wandering around. Where I live in Massachusetts most of the chronically homeless were just shoved out on the street, and they spend their days wandering around aimlessly, and are usually preyed upon by the criminal element.
