It’s a sucker bet, I admit.
Homeschoolers AVERAGE in the 86th percentile.

[ Another part of the story which is bogus...saying that they were home-schooled. They are ‘un-schooled’....meaning they experience life on their own time, own agenda, and when they feel like it. There’s no mention of books, curriculum (something that home-schoolers adhere to), or tests to measure progress. So it’s bogus to tie this family to home-schoolers. ]

Yet if A child coming in from central America on their own totally supervised and living in far greater squalor and disease.... We ship their parents here.....

If we were consistent all these children showing up at the border would be sent to CPS...

....”Do you ask the same about the Amish?”....

I don’t think the Amish in any way are a fair comparison. I lived in Amish country for a time...their children have school every day, their have protections from the environment, they generally co-operate with the police, they do have wells and water accessible, etc. etc. In addition they rely on the group and assist one another in all ways.

What this couple does is not even remotely close to Amish life.

BTW, a friend, Murv Perry, wrote a Mother's Day article which might interest you: mother and dad raised 10 kids in the Depression with very little income, under primitive conditions and partly in a tent; and too much of a migratory existence for the kids to be regularly schooled:

Scroll down to page 7 of 8

Fascinating --- and mighty encouraging--- to see what the outcomes for the kids were.

The sheriff wanted to speak to the children because they were with the father when he was trespassing and stealing the water...so that’s understandable. Further the father had stolen previously from this neighbor.

Again there’ are many “other” happenings surrounding this event.

And if the CPS had turned a blind eye to maltreatment and something horrible did happen to the kids there would be screaming that the government didn’t do enough.

I really don’t think this is about the way they’re raising their children....I think that’s been the defense of the parents because they know and even comment about their understanding people don’t see their lifestyle as normal.

It’s about breaking the law which the father did by trespassing and stealing, and apparently had done so in the past with this family. The fact ‘he sent the son’ for his gun in an apparent threat to the neighbor then includes the child and why CPS were notified.

It isn’t possible to guarantee outcomes ...

Here we must stop, because this is the key. It isn't possible to guarantee outcomes. Therefore, when we go beyond expressing opinions and talk about enforcing particular actions, we're talking about enforcing processes. The question is, "What schooling processes should be forced upon citizens by the coercive might of the state?"

In the same way, it is not possible to guarantee health outcomes. The question then becomes, "What processes intended to produce health do we want to have forced upon citizens by the coercive power of the state?"

As we consider these questions, it's perfectly reasonable to look at the results achieved by the processes currently enforced or promoted by the state, before we decide that nobody should be allowed to opt out of them.

What’s to clarify? You said the sheriff wanted to speak to the children, yet the children are now in state custody. That’s quite a bit different than “speaking to the children”

What is more interesting is this other thread that someone pointed out

This might be a financial scam.

Which doesn’t change the state’s kidnapping.

Parents have been remodeling this store for a Dog Grooming buisness only since March/April of this year....I have real issues that they father resorted to stealing from his neighbor, and had previously done so, and previously are known to ask (rely on) churches and people to "donate" to their lifestyle.... Yet neither has a job. As if the public is suppose to help them build the life they desire....and they seem to believe the public should.

They elected this lifestyle but certainly appear to not be able to live it on their own. I think this gofund me is another part of their agenda to have the public support their lifestyle.....now asking for a van , a home, computers and I-pads, phones etc. and a host of other "provisions they have chosen not to work for themselves.

The issue with the sheriff is entirely seperate from their lifetsyle.....but the family is promoting it as the reason behind ....forgetting to mention the father did break the law, and she did resist from the get go of allowing the boys to speak to the police regarding the trespassing and stealing as they were with the father at the time. She's been protecting her husband from arrest.

“I saw the pictures of the so called “house”. It is a shack and in serious violation of multiple building codes. “

I don’t even think the structure meets the definition of a building.

So the father breaking the law justifies seizing his children? A policeman and some state social workers show up and take your children from you - no judge no jury, no conviction. That’s abuse.

...”This might be a financial scam”....

Yes, I believe that it is.

The parents knew two weeks beforehand the sheriff would be there.....she claimed she was attempting to get an Attorney...so I find that an excuse in light of the fact she knew they were coming...further she deliberately left her cell phone on to tape this encounter. The very next day her husband put up the gofund me account....using a friend of the father to post as a Corporation...which hasn't even been launched yet...saying that this couple is their first client.

The fact they began just in March to purchase and renovate the store... they found they could not progress with the expense of that and tend to the basic needs of their homefront also. Bounced checks by the father might attest to the financial squeeze they put themselves into.

Thus using their children and the already history of seeking “donations” from churches and the public friday to finance their lifestyle...creating or allowing to happen an event would certainly bring in mass the funds they seek . Now at $38,000....to build and obtain all the “homefront” items they want.

I think it all stinks...and I think they truly “believe” this is perfectly how it should be that the public “rescue” them from their situation. Their Mormon prior affiliation , which teaches self-reliance and others to help....is a carry over to what we're seeing them do now.

“If the mother is going to be working in addition to taking care of 2 babies and 9 other kids”

I’m in the residential service industry. I go in a lot of
peoples homes and meet a lot of people. I’ve seen successful
home schooling from working parents. In some states kids can get
a decent education from public schools in other states the
parents have to work hard supplementing public education
with their children at home and in most of those cases it
is easier to home school and give their kids a better education
then what they would get supplementing the public school system.
Also there is a few thing to consider in public
schools. Disease riddled wetbacks, drugs, sexual predatory
teachers, incompetent buffoons posing as teachers and staff,
nationally set teaching formats that favor lowering the
intellect to the lowest common denominator.

I don’t think its was home schooling that was the problem
here.

Oh and BTW...if you listen to the tapes of this....toward the end you will hear the father telling his friend.....”Make this go viral”......which always refers to something being placed on the net for public consumption. This couple knew their resistance would create the situation...

There’s just too much history not being stated here nor in the news about how this couple “operates”.

Ifone simply ceases to focus on the lifestyle issue that’s being promoted as the reasons for all this.......and look at the obvious evidence otherwise....there’s a whole nother picture in this mess.

But in my opinion....they will get what they want without lifting a hand....the court dates etc. are secondary to the gofundme account that continues to have a steady stream of “donations”.....the heart of this matter.
