This bit of rock history is worthy of front page status.

I’ve driven by there hundreds of times. I used to like Clearwater and the gulf coast in the late 60s.

No more. The Florida of John D. MacDonald is just a pleasant memory.

During the Super Bowl XL halftime show when the Stones were performing Satisfaction, a friend's daughter asked why those old guys were covering a Britney Spears song.

Type in “Rolling Stones” in the station input field at Pandora.com, and watch the Cialis adverts show up in the side column.

And who would have ever guessed they would still be touring today. I remember a long time ago John Lennon said the Stones would be around playing for the next 100 years. He may have been right lol

"Stairway to Heaven" is 45 years old.

Hard to believe.

And in 1966, von Mises in Human Action, a Treatise on Economics notes that satisfaction is "a state of a human being which does not and cannot result in any action. Acting man is eager to substitute a more satisfactory state of affairs for a less satisfactory. His mind imagines conditions which suit him better, and his action aims at bringing about this desired state. The incentive that impels a man to act is always some uneasiness. A man perfectly content with the state of his affairs would have no incentive to change things. He would have neither wishes nor desires; he would be perfectly happy. He would not act.

My Mother loved Mick Jagger and that was before she knew that he and I shared the same Birthday, July 26th.

He has Ten Years and $300,000,000 on me.

The Stones have contributed to many unique riffs during the rock era that are unmistakable and attributable to the Stones alone. They are a great cover band. If Bobby Goldsboro hadn’t shown Richards the open tunings, much of his Telecaster rhythms would have never have been. The individual members of the Stones are students of music, Blues,Jazz, Country, Big Band, and Rock and have incorporated it into many of their songs. Like them or not, they have made a contribution to music, especially rock and roll.

At the time the song was written AM Top 40 radio was the dominant medium. The song with it’s signature riff was just made for AM Top 40. It grabbed your attention when coming through a car speaker or a “transistor radio” at the beach. Now it seems a bit tired, old and overplayed.
