Washington: The median income of Indian-Americans, which is the richest ethnic community in the US, in the year 2013 was $100,547, Census Bureau said in its latest report.
The figure is almost double the national median income and significantly more than even white, non-Hispanic Americans whose median income is approximately $57,000.
In its latest report, the US Census Bureau said Indian Americans are the third largest Asian community in the United States after Chinese and Filipinos.
The Chinese (except Taiwanese) population was the largest Asian group, followed by Filipinos (3.6 million), Indian American (3.5 million), Vietnamese (1.9 million), Koreans (1.8 million) and Japanese (1.4 million).
But when it comes to income, Indian Americans top the list. In contrast to the high-earning groups, the median income of Black-American households was $33,321 and that of Hispanic households was $39,005.
Indian Americans have been a historical constant on ethnic income list over the past few years. Half a decade ago, Indian Americans took home a median of $86,135. South African Americans slotted into second with median $81,912 take-home, while Filipino Americans had the third highest median income at $76,954.
The median income in 2013 for Indian Americans was $100,547; while for Bangladeshis, it was $51,331. The estimated number of US residents in 2013 who were Asian, either one race or in combination with one or more additional races was 19.4 million.
Previously, the census bureau's "American Community Survey in 2010" had put the Indian-American median family income at $86,135.
California has the largest population of Asian Americans (6.1 million).
The Asian population alone represented 37.7 per cent of the total population in Hawaii.
Though the census report did not address the religious angle, other surveys have long indicated that Jewish-Americans come closest to Indian-Americans in terms of income and education.
I wonder how many of them are “consulting” for the US govt. Their education system is different than ours. Standards are not like ours. It seems like their university curricula is specifically tailored to grab good high paying American jobs. Their degree programs, I think we would call a certificate program. We could use more certificate programs in this country, that are affordable, to help retrain our work force that has been laid off. People who already have good American college degrees, but need to learn new skills. The more foreigners that are hired, the more foreigners will do the hiring. They’ll just hire more foreigners.
How Asian immigrants get preferential treatment when starting a business
There a lesson in culture here.
MY first thought when I read the headline was, "Those casinos are doing much better than I ever imagined."
Still, Indian-Americans seem a natural Republican constituency. Maybe they are too busy working to pay attention to politics.
“Indian Americans”.....
Note, not the same as “American Indian”.
Immigration, the left depends on it.
...
Big government depends on it.
dot, not feather.
And companies get to skip taxes they would have to pay to hire citizens... Bonus!
There may be some truth in that. Their kids are training in medicine and software development, while ours are getting useless degrees in womyn's and homosexual studies. When a company needs a doctor or a software developer, who are they going to hire?
No, but they're dark enough to satisfy the liberal impulse for "diversity" in the workplace...
I've observed two things: they write code about as well as Mexicans fix cars (think duct-tape) and the women are ball-busting manipulators
Nothing personal, but this statement is proof of how a steady diet of media fare will create a false vision of the world in anyone's mind.
You are right. I’m in IT and besides taking our jobs, they support democrats. Even the ones who cannot vote yet love the left, and just a side note, they don’t make less than white Americans in IT. That is a false rumor.
I believe you. But boy did I get slaughtered and ridiculed on a thread one day for saying these things. I was told to start my own computer business if I couldn’t compete, get new skills, join the demonrats, etc lol.
wow.
In the IT community they took over the consulting head hunter companies and yes they hire their own and will even walk them through IT problems over the phone for any piece of work they are having difficulty with. It is quite a money making racket.
Imagine, if you can get your foot in the door and then basically have your hand held the entire way, you both make money and keep your job.

there’s gold in them thar hills!
Can you clarify what that false vision of the world is, and in whose mind?
Wow. Just think how they’ll do if they didn’t have to live on reservations.
“Still, Indian-Americans seem a natural Republican constituency. Maybe they are too busy working to pay attention to politics.”
I agree, but knowing Republicans, they probably have consultants trying to train them in smoke signals so that they can communicate with them.
In other words, if the Republicans won’t lift a finger, they are going to drift to the side that ‘seems’ to care about them - even though their kids are getting SCREWED OVER by our educational system much worse than others.
