Via Mediaite. We live in strange times when MSNBC’s 8 p.m. guy is more likely to defend Pam Geller for goofing on Mohammed than Fox News’s is.
Touche:
@allahpundit @JohnEkdahl Jesus also wouldnt point his pen holding finger at guests on a talk show either. WWBD?

Yeah, the “I’m more like Jesus than you are” game is a hard one to win. But his point here is mainly tactical … I think. If you want to convince Muslims to accept values like free speech that are championed by the Christian west, the Golden Rule is a better approach than mocking their prophet until they grudgingly agree to tolerate blasphemy. Do unto them as you’d have them do unto you. He’s not saying Jesus would refuse to offend religious or cultural orthodoxy — I hope, given the many Biblical passages to the contrary. He just prefers a less antagonistic pitch in a hearts-and-minds campaign and, O’Reilly being O’Reilly, can’t resist calling Jesus as his first witness. Overturning the money-changers’ tables may have been righteous but the Sermon on the Mount did more to make believers of the unfaithful. And if there’s anyone in media who eschews combativeness for tender persuasion, it’s … Bill O’Reilly.
All of which is fine, I guess, if you believe that Christians abiding by Islamic norms on images of Mohammed would make Muslims more likely to abide by broader western norms on free speech. I don’t. I think self-censoring blasphemy actually teaches that intimidation works and that jihadis can and should get to work on threatening people over other aspects of western culture that offends them, like gay marriage or educating women. Defending blasphemy is as much about holding the line against further deterioration of the west’s cultural influence as it as about the virtues of blasphemy itself. And I’m curious to know after watching this: What else wouldn’t Jesus do in the name of not offending Islam? Muslims may find mocking Mohammed offensive but it wouldn’t surprise me if you polled them and discovered that U.S. military adventures in the Middle East offend them more. Doves like to taunt right-wing hawks by asking “Who would Jesus bomb?”, but I think that’s actually a fair question to ask O’Reilly after this. Who would Jesus bomb? If drawing cartoons is a bridge too far for JC, how about drone strikes?
O’Reilly, attempting to score one by deliberately missing the point.
Shallow, VERY shallow.
Who? Obama?
His silence on the genocide of Christians in the ME looks like a sympathy vote to me.
Seems his arguement was that Geller was inflaming an entire “religion” by sponsoring the cartoon contest and the “moderate muslims”, of which there may be a few would be upset and not join in condemnation of the jihadist. Seems those moderates would be more offended by a charcoal drawing of their prophet than they are that the nut-job islamists who are beheading innocent people, raping, and pillaging in the name of their “religion”.
If that is true, they, the moderates, are not really moderate at all but rather jihadi sympathizers.
This battle won’t be over until Western leaders realize they all need to be shown the way to Mohammad’s den of eternal damnation — and the sooner the better !!
If Geller limited herself to words Jesus would use with respect to a satanic character like mohommad Bill would like her a lot less than he does now.
Billy’s argument is a logical fallacy. What Jesus would or would not have done is irrelevant. Someone should slap him upside the head with some critical thinking skills and tell him that Geller wasn’t hosting a Christian event; it was a First-Amendment event.
Martha doesn’t usually state her opinions. I’m surprised she is doing this. O’Reilly is just so puffed up with his self righteousness I just can’t stand to watch him. The Islamic terrorists use these media types to cover for them and let them get away with their atrocities.
Now Bill “The Bloviator” O’Reilly is speaking for Jesus?
How does OReilly suppose Jesus is feeling toward Muzzies slaughtering Christians by the thousands all over the world? Does he think Jesus is down with that? Drawing a picture of Mohammed would be the least violent thing Jesus would do to murdering muzzies.

Excellent point. O’Reilly Geraldo and all media are giving them cover for their evil. Jesus would have called them demons which is what they are. There is evil in the world Bill O.
“What did he say about Dad?”
And what He said provoked a rather violent response. In legal terms, a reasonable person could have expected a violent response to what he said.
O’Reilly can be a fool.
"excuse me, I need to visit the restroom"
to:
"excuse me, time to go paint Mohammad"
.
Well all Jesus’ teachings revolve around not accepting giving in to evil. Ever. And I remember a few overturned tables as well, selling your garments to buy a sword and such.
Then there’s God striking down entire cities of evil and armies. Lots of things that Jesus taught fly in the face of the idea of standing there and accepting death/evil without a fight.
Kinda hard to balance the analogy since the child-raping Arab came CENTURIES after the time of Jesus.
Maybe Jesus would have cast out Mohammed’s demons and turn him into a normal person.
RE: the child-raping Arab came CENTURIES after the time of Jesus
What did the Arab people do before Mohammad came along?
So I guess we won’t hold our breath on the Killing Mohammad book.
Someday Jesus will return. Then we will see whom He considers his enemies. He won’t be brandishing a pencil, either.
well, till they made it a cult, it was mostly goats and camels and each other.
You know who would have held a “Draw Jesus doing something obscene” contest? Liberals.
I wonder how he thinks Jesus would respond to a man who claimed to be a prophet of a false religion...one which subjugated Jesus to that man.
