GOP race to replace Marco Rubio could be bloodbath (how dare a conservative run!!!)

MIAMI — The Republican race for Florida’s soon-to-be open Senate seat has the potential makings of a primary bloodbath, pitting the establishment wing of the party and insurgent movement conservative groups against each other as they prepare to pick sides between Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera and Rep. Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis made his candidacy official Wednesday and unveiled the support of influential Washington conservative groups, one of which immediately bashed Lopez-Cantera, whose allies intend to start rolling out a leadership and super PAC in anticipation of a formal campaign announcement in coming weeks.

The friendly fire from Team DeSantis is a hallmark of some of these groups, and it isn’t lost on D.C. Republicans that many of his consultants and allies — Jamestown Associates, Senate Conservatives Fund and FreedomWorks — are the same crew that unsuccessfully backed now-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s 2014 Republican primary opponent.

“Many conservatives, many in the Senate are just not happy DeSantis has done this,” said one top-level Republican who’s familiar with the inner workings of the Senate GOP. “There are some people who are ready to give dollar-for-dollar to make sure any advantage DeSantis gets from these groups will be wiped out.”

“Carlos Lopez-Cantera is not a conservative,” Cuccinelli, the conservative former Virginia attorney general who lost the 2013 gubernatorial race, told The Palm Beach Post on Wednesday. “He supported Charlie Crist‘s budget that raised taxes by $2.2 billion, he supported in-state tuition for illegal aliens, and he’s supported wasteful spending at the state level. If he runs, we will actively oppose his nomination.”

Ron DeSantis IS credible! The Senate Conservatives Fund just endorsed him. He’s a member of the new Freedom Caucus in the House.

He actually has much better credentials of the type the GOPE usually likes—double Ivy League, attorney, vet—except he’s apparently actually conservative.

LOL! It is easy. Vote and spend on the conservative. Leave the GOP-E alone. They tend to be liberal.

Rubio is PRO AMNESTY, now how PRO AMERICA IS THAT? It certainly does not fit CONSERVATISM. Ditto Jeb. Carson is squishy on 2nd Amend.

Won’t waste my vote or money to support a Pro Amnesty IDIOT.

The TRADE DEAL THAT IS BEING FAST TRACK INCLUDES AMNESTY.

“Marco Rubio is not a Conservative.”

You are correct. But the article is about who to replace him since he’s not running for the seat again, an Establishment go-along type, or Ron Desantis, a REAL conservative, who just announced.

I was going by the headline. After I saw some of the article, I realized the headline was misleading.

I am going to have to reorient my reading method[s]. Long ago, when I was in school, the teacher taught us that, by reading the headline, one could get an idea of what the body of the story consists of. i.e., the headline reflects the body of the story. Today, that is certainly not the case. Today, the headline has nothing in common with the body of the article.

Rubio is a traitor, a back stabber and will sell out conservatives at the very first opportunity he gets. Don't believe me? Look at the picture below when he almost shoved illegal immigration down our throats.

Pollutico makes it sounds like Tea Party/conservative groups play hardball against the Republican Establishment Empire. What a joke. No one has seen scorched earth campaigns until they witness Mitch McConnell, John McCain, and their ilk.

I’ve already contributed to the Senate Conservatives Fund for DeSantis and plan to continue to do so. I have no doubt that the Republican Establishment Empire will shake the lobbyist trees for plenty of campaign cash for Lopez-Cantera, just as they did for Thad Cochran. Conservatives will have to belly up if we want solid conservatives in the Senate.

True, but that does not mean I have to compromise and vote for a PRO AMNESTY IDIOT.

It’s like this junk with Amy Grant and the Gates, she has been PRO ABORTION longer than most people think. She proudly marched in a 2013 PRO Abortion parade. Why should I condone what GOD ABHORS and forbids?
