The Peopla always call on the Conservatives to clean up after years of liberalism.
The way I see it, the media is your contra-indicator.
If they're for 'em, I'm agin 'em.
Come on, Fox. Don’t alter the spelling of a proper noun/adjective. It’s Labour there and it should be Labour here, just as it’s Labor in Australia and referred to as such by the UK press.
It’s a group suicide-prevention meeting at BBC.
I disagree. They got one seat (but their leader lost in his good shot at a second seat). They never had a seat before. (They formed in 1993.)
They are now the #3 party in UK by votes (which is an important position in a first-past-the-post system).
I wouldn't say this was a loss. Quadrupling your support over the previous election is darn pretty good!!
UKIP votes: 1993 - formed
1997 - 105,000 votes and 0.3 percent
2001 - 390,000 votes and 1.6 percent
2005 - 606,000 votes and 2.2 percent
2010 - 980,000 votes and 3.8 percent
2015 - 3,840,000 votes and 12.8 percent
When just 37 percent of the vote can give you a clear majority of the House, 13 percent and rising fast ain't bad!!!
I agree.
There is a certain sort of person, with a certain view of politics, who seems to drift into media jobs.
Everywhere they are liberal, and they work to report everything to one side of their viewpoint.
I agree completely.
He sure gave a great speech about cutting the death cult out of Great Britain.
I read a story the other day in regards to the Garland, TX attack by those now expired ISIS wanna-bes.
NYTimes reports “Anti-Islam” event in Garland, TX.
Fox News reports it as “Free Speech” event in Garland, TX.
Huge. NYTimes oozes propaganda...I mean it’s sickening.
I think the UKIP results are the story of the election... which is why the BBC is not mentioning it at all.
Now, do something about your “immigrant” (Muslim) problem.
UKIP got more votes than LDP but didn’t get a seat, weird
Running up to the election the media did everything they could to make this look bad for the Cons, saying it was going to be a tie and there would be a coalition government and all that
David Axelrod was over there helping the Labor Party I believe.
UKIP got only one seat in Parliament - despite winning the third-highest number of votes across the country!
I’m flabbergasted.
Every silver lining has a dark cloud, as the saying goes.
The big takeaway here is not to be discouraged by fake polls from the liberal media!
While this was not the resounding victory for conservatives that I had hoped for (SNP is anything but conservative, and they were the clear winners), is most certainly WAS a DEFEAT for the liberals. They were sent packing with their ears pinned back.
Hopefully you're right and they will lose even more seats in future. And good riddance!
RE: How did Farage and UKIP fare?
Not good.

The good news for UKIP is that their support is growing fast, and they are not a real regional party. They have a fair amount of support across England (Scotland, Wales, and N. Ireland are different). While it would have been nice to pick up a few seats, what UKIP accomplished in vote total is quite remarkable.
They also have not supplanted the LibDems as the third-party in Britain. That is quite an accomplishment.
Should be that the HAVE supplanted the LibDems as the third-party. My mistake.
