First Lady Michelle Obama suggested at an opening of the new $420 million Whitney Museum in New York City that minorities rarely feel welcome at such venues.
You see, there are so many kids in this country who look at places like museums and concert halls and other cultural centers and they think to themselves, well, thats not a place for me, for someone who looks like me, for someone who comes from my neighborhood.
She then said she could guarantee you that right now, there are kids living less than a mile from here who would never in a million years dream that they would be welcome in this museum, the Daily Caller reported.
And how does she know that?
Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, Obama said, I was one of those kids myself. So I know that feeling of not belonging in a place like this. And today, as first lady, I know how that feeling limits the horizons of far too many of our young people.
Obama also said she and her husband have taken that view to heart in the White House, and tried to set aside specific times to host those who may not see themselves as fitting into the exclusive surroundings.
The message were trying to send is simple. Were telling our young people, the White House is your house, she said. You belong here as much as anyone else in this country. Were telling them, make yourselves at home...

books intimidate minorities
Yes, it was. Her flow blown hatred and racism is on display now. Remember in 2007 and 2008, and she was on something like 250 different magazine covers?
I said back then that the dolts that believed in the Obamas and bought a magazine with her picture on it are evil enablers. No sane person could not see her agenda driven racism and entitlement on display after watching her in action for even 2 minutes.
Well, why don’t I just go round up some Muzzies and we tear those motherhumpin’ white-privilege edifices of oppression DOW-OWN, hon!

Thanks. I have loved Iowahawk for over 15 years now. His writing is brilliant.
It wasn't hard to make a mockery of the entire magazine section in most stores. The Obama's were already owning 75% of the covers. I just helped enhance it.
What an embarrassment. She and her “husband” have set the country back 50 years. Good, honest, hard-working blacks (to the contrary, they do exist) must be shaking their collective heads.
My house is a museum.
You would never know it by the way she ambles. I've seen mules more graceful then she.
My house is also a museum; The Museum of Unfinished Projects.
But my house does have a fine history library, which I’m sure it would be intimidating to many minorities since it has books in it.
How does Michelle feel about libraries?
Just finished up yet another day in the kitchen refacing from you-know-where project (almost 4 weeks and counting) and popped up to FR to see what’s what. Ran across your post and literally belly laughed.
Museum of Unfinished Projects.
Brother, I can SO relate.
Take care.
The realization of how little her people have contributed to the betterment of mankind must be unsettling.
Bitch!
Christopher Hitchens - Miss him so much!
I don’t much begrudge her the trappings of the office even though she has abused them with abandon.
This comment shows that she is who she is; Queen of Sheba... and all the other poor downtrooden ex-slave Black people should just accept this horrible rotten unfair state that they are in and both wallow in it but yet stand up for their rights and seek to eat better food but accept that they have to eat crappy food because the white man doesn’t pay their mamas enough to feed them properly. It is all about fostering division and resentment. This is the same thing as Black kids dissing each other and accusing each other of “acting white” for wanting to learn stuff in school.
Meanwhile, while I don’t know if geographically she grew up “on the So side of Chicago” she had a relatively privileged background and upbringing and she apparently didn’t feel too uncomfortable with her $350K/year no-show gig at the hospital.
This was really just an abased, crappy thing to say.
LOL! I had to read that sentence twice!
What a racist.
