Why men won't marry you
Fox News ^ | May 1, 2015 | Suzanne Venker

That’s a question Peter Lloyd tackles in a series in London’s Daily Mail about Britain’s marriage rate, which is at its lowest level since 1895. “The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery,” Lloyd writes. “For an army of women, Mr. Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him.”

Marry an Asian girl who watches less than an hour of television a day.

But you don't know ANY that found the woman they married different from the one they dated.....?

99% of the time they were deluding themselves. And by the way this goes for men AND women. They claim the person they married changed, but in most cases it was screaming obvious to everyone else beforehand. Sorry, but a lot of people going into marriage are wearing blinders.

I know one man whose wife seemed to change after about 18 years. I know one woman whose fiance I didn't know very well, but seemed nice enough, but turned out to be a total maniac.

Our courts do reward people for acting badly in divorce to a criminal degree.

>>>A “bohemian” gal i was friends with at my old told me when she was 37 “i hope i don’t end up an old maid”.<<<

I noticed when I was searching profiles many women in their late 30s had odd ideas about children. Such as, Yes, I want children and she was 40. Or, “I’m not sure.” Seriously, at 37 you are an old maid. The fertility clock runs out to near zero at 45. And it’s not looking that good at 37 either. And the really confusing thing to me what how picky the women sound when you read their profiles. They will always have cats to fall back on I guess.

One word: Custody.
Another word: Alimony.

Unless there are extreme circumstances such as the woman tried murdering one of the children (and even then) family courts all over the US automatically assume the woman is the better parent to have custody and that she should have alimony *and* child support. Even if she’s a drunk, drug addict, serial cheater who can’t hold a job, they’ll give the kids to her and bleed the man beyond white in transfer payments to her.

If, during the course of the divorce, she swears the man owns firearms and that he threatened her (even if he was out of the country, unable to contact her in any way at the time), the courts will automatically grant a restraining order for domestic violence against the man (which means there goes your security clearance and/or trusted position at private firms with moral character clauses) and the police will come seize all your firearms. Recent case in point: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3275173/posts

If that’s not bad enough, the courts will display similar behavior when the woman makes accusations of infidelity and domestic violence (even without firearms) - she will be believed even if she doesn’t present any proof whatsoever. If the man makes similar accusations, well, no amount of proof will be enough unless she admits it happened. And even then sometimes that’s not enough.

How do I know? I’m the child of one of these divorces. The court screwed up in awarding custody, quite badly. As such, I’ve watched the exact same thing happen to clients, friends and family over and over. Woman gets everything, man gets nothing.

Everybody wants a wife but nobody wants to be one.

Sums it up.

Now you are contradicting yourself.

I never contradicted myself. You just didn't read very well and made a lot of assumptions.

“And they got it, and alimony. Dad is completely screwed.”

Not completely screwed. Alimony and child support is probably less than he would have to spend if the wife was still with him.

That’s another part. Yet another part is advertisers, columnists and advice forums telling women that their relationships should always be filled with romance, that the man should always be worshipping her, sweeping her off her feet, constantly introducing new things that she likes into a relationship; that the relationship should forever be fresh and new and it should be like a fairy tale.

Only problem is that life isn’t like that. Eventually everything settles down to at least some semblance of routine - and these ‘advisors’ are telling women that if it does that’s always bad and they should demand more.

I call it ‘pretty pretty princess syndrome’ and a shocking number of women have been sold on this. I recently watched it destroy a friend’s relationship where they were the perfect match for each other in interests, abilities, temperments, etc., - but she’d been sold the pretty pretty princess line and she dumped him saying that “things had become routine and that was a sign the relationship was failing.” Marriage had been considered; fortunately for the guy it hadn’t gotten to much more than kicking around the idea.

I just know where the blame is and what the big picture is in our society. I may not be happy with all the women out there, but I don’t hate women.

No, I don't think you do. I think you think you've successfully integrated a traditional view of women with the current variety, but what you've really done is ignore whatever didn't support your thesis.

And why on earth do people like you insist on pushing the "hate women" narrative. It just make you look asinine. It's pretty damn clear to anyone willing to part with their own philosophical binky it's only American/Western women that breed such contempt and disdain.

lol. The funny thing is, in my family, i dont remember the last baby that was born to a woman under 40. Well, the least three were early 40s, then mid thirties.
THANK GOD’s greatness that there were no deformities or issues.
My own nightmare story is I worked day and night until 37, because i wanted ENOUGH MONEY for kids, house, fancy Car.
Ended up with brain injury at 37, ten years later, finally working again, fiance stayed, no kids and a cat.

I am a living testament to NOT WAITING to start your family!!!

I volunteer at boxing gyms and other places with kids.

And you are right about cats. He's my best buddy. I wanted kids so bad, but i blew it. But God would be angry if i pouted until i died.

One problem: In a modern divorce, the man doesn’t get half the woman’s stuff. The woman gets to keep all her stuff and get half or more of the man’s stuff.

Let me go through this slowly again.

Wives stole the kids from them then went to family court and got them to steal their paychecks to give to her (two wives), as a reward for breaking up the family.

So they are out both their own kids and pay checks.

She gets both for sitting on her fat duff watching TV.

How is that winning?

” Woman gets everything, man gets nothing.”

My wife was put through hell by her ex.

Unfit mother ...

Used drugs ....

On and on. He had court papers served to her at work by uniformed police.

She finally got custody by agreeing to no child support and no alimony. He ended up with a daughter that asked her mother why ‘daddy’ didn’t live with them like her friends’ fathers did.

My God That's Obviously Wrong.

I was just talking about this very topic with my wife earlier this week, when I said: "I Might Go There On Wednesday."

“How is that winning? “

Nobody “wins” in a divorce. I said he was not completely screwed.

The B is gone, he probably has fewer expenses and can sleep-in on Sundays after a night out with boys.

Then she was the exception because (some of the mens’ rights groups have the actual stats) something like 90% of cases where the man brings accusations comparable to what women routinely bring (usually baseless) to the courts these days, their accusations are just summarily dismissed.

What do you consider the man’s stuff? The 4-wheeler he bought instead of the new couch?
