SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Jesse Jackson renewed his call Wednesday for the technology industry to make workforce diversity as high a priority as product innovation.

The civil rights leader spoke at a gathering of corporate executives and activists called to address Silicon Valley's shortage of women, blacks and Hispanics in high-paying jobs.

The jobs are high paying because the employees are high performing. If you want the job, become a high performer and apply. Putting low performers into the mix drives up costs, lowers quality and delays delivery. Those statements are true no matter what your exterior paint job may be.

A shortage implies your work is impeded by not having those items. Silicon Valley is functioning just fine as is, so there is no "shortage". There isn't a shortage of American tech employees that needs to be filled with H1B imports either. The grifters are anxious to seize the fruits of other people's labor and toss them on the street.

Passed one of those articulated busses whist driving along Dry Harbor Rd in Queens NY. On the first car was an advertisement for the ease of getting on “SNAP” (food stamps). The accompanying picture showed a smiling 40ish white guy. The next car bore a pic of a black guy who was on the road to being a financial analyst. Most of the math/computer whizzes I see on TV are black or female. Never saw so many black Anthropologists, Physicists, Geologists and Cosmologists as I see these days on the cable shows. Seems to me that blacks have got it going on...

If you had the knowledge and skills to advance , you did.. No matter your skin color or homeland.

State schools in NJ were the same way (though they were easier to diescern the difference); American blacks took their classes in a building filled with remedial classes (where they took no-credit high school-level classes whites wouldn’t even be admitted without) while the African students were in the same classes as “real” students.
