The US Supreme Court on Monday left intact New Jersey's ban on counseling intended to change the sexual orientation of gay children.
The court declined to hear a challenge to the law, meaning that a September ruling by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholding the ban is the final word on the matter.
The appeals court said the ban, which Republican Governor Chris Christie signed into law in August 2013, did not violate the free speech or religious rights of counselors offering "gay conversion therapy" to convert homosexual minors into heterosexuals.

Chris Christie needs to be consigned to anonymity and the dustbin of failed GOP candidates.
You can shuffle one unhelpful politician out of the way and as long as the spiritual situation is the same, another one will fall into place.
Just because the supreme court doesn’t take the case this year doesn’t mean they never will take any such case.
They can’t possibly rule on every case each year.
So, the ban is upheld based on the lower court ruling, but it is not the FINAL word, court-wise.
I don’t understand the reasoning with banning conversion therapy for minors.
In any other area of medical treatment, parents have the ultimate authority to decide what treatment their children receive.
Correction — they don’t have ultimate authority in abortion, as underage teen girls are considered adults for purposes of deciding to have an abortion.
But except for gay therapy and abortion, both liberal causes, parents have the ultimate authority over medical and therapeutic treatment of their children.
So perhaps the bottom line here, is that parents have authority, unless they would make decisions counter to the liberal theology in certain areas. So since liberals are all in favor of abortion and against conversion therapy, our laws and regulations have been distorted to take away parental authority in those areas.

It's like AA.
Noting that the states have never amended the Constitution to prohibit the states from prohibiting bans on gay conversion therapy, there is nothing that the Supreme Court could do; likewise for gay marriage if there were all honest justices. Gay conversion therapy in this example is ultimately up to the NJs legal majority voters just like gay marriage is.
Unfortunately, the honest interpretation of the Constitution just happens to work in the favor of pro-gay activist justices on this issue.
This is excellent news.
If NJ have the right to ban con ersion therapy, then states have the right to define and uphold traditional marriages.
Not to support what Christie did of course, but the state has the right to do this.
So, according to the black-robed ones, it’s okay for the sexual deviants to recruit and train young kids to be sexual perverts but it’s not okay for normal, decent people to intervene in the process?
1973 became the year that the APA removed homosexuality from their “Character and Behavior” list. And it’s gotten worse every solitary single year. It’s also the year that unborn and newly born babies became targets of the Godless.
In other words, the state of New Jersey can make its own laws?
So this can apply to marriage, too, right?
And how many naive women are the sodomites infecting?
What about the right of the family, parents or child to the therapy? What about the right to choose or is that only if you’re killing a baby?
Talk about inconsistent logic, but consistent liberalism.
The Supreme Court understands that the highest bidder always wins or is it a do this or be exposed deal?.
Something is very wrong with this court.
The Court did not “uphold the ban.” The Court declined to hear the appeal of the case upholding the ban. Two different things entirely; but the media always makes the PC spin on events.
Not so sure anymore the Supreme Court functions as a ‘US’ Supreme Court but has shifted into “something else”. If Natural Marriage is defeated....you will then find churches and Pastors sued and brought into the courts. Which is ultimately a push to remove Christianity from our nation.
