Ben Carson, retired neurosurgeon turned conservative star, has confirmed that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
Carson, who has never run for public office, is expected to be the only high-profile African-American to enter the GOP’s presidential primary as he tries to parlay his success as an author and speaker into a competitive campaign against established politicians.
“I’m willing to be part of the equation and therefore, I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States of America,” he said in an interview aired Sunday night by Ohio’s WKRC television station.
He is set to make a more formal announcement during a speech from his native Detroit on Monday.

You know, all that aside, I’d love to wear a poodle skirt and saddle shoes to attend a sock hop. It sounds like fun. I’d also be willing to bet that many of our friends here would love that!

Actually I’m a GenXer so the sock hop thing was before my time. Now if someone were to recreate the Blitz Club from the New Romantic era... Seeing a bunch of 50 YO ‘Blitz kids’ in full dress blitzed on Budweiser could be HIGHLY entertaining.
I’ve never been to a sock hop, but it seems like fun.
The “Blitz Kids”, not so much.
It actually made Lady Gaga’s antics look like a church social. Most of them OD or dies of aids. Some good music came out of that scene but thats about it. It’s like watching a car crash. You are horrified but can’t help but look.
