President Obama, Are You Listening?

The scenes of Baltimore set ablaze this week have many Americans thinking: What can be done to rescue families trapped in an inner-city culture of violence, despair and joblessness?

There are no easy answers, but down the road from Baltimore in Washington, D.C., an education program is giving children in poor neighborhoods a big lift up. The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which (George W. Bush) signed into law in 2004, has so far funded private-school tuition for nearly 5,000 students, 95% of whom are African-American. They attend religious schools, music and arts schools, even elite college-prep schools. Last month at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, I met with about 20 parents and children who participate in the program...

[snip]These families have now pulled together to brace for a David vs. Goliath fight to save the program. For the seventh straight year, President Obama has proposed eliminating this relatively tiny scholarship fund, which at $20 million accounts for a microscopic 0.0005% of the $4 trillion federal budget.

The parents and students point out that the scholarship program has extraordinary benefits—they use phrases like “a godsend for our children,” “a life saver” and “our salvation.” One father, Joseph Kelley, a tireless champion of the program, says simply, “I truly shudder to think where my son would be today without it.” (He and his son, Rashawn Williams, are pictured at home nearby on this page.)

Aside from the T shirt Rashawn is wearing (the murderer of hundreds of Cuban nationals)..this article is worth reading to see how powerful the Unions are in particular to this article, the Teachers Unions.

Nothing Obama does in regards to demeaning our nation surprises me....however why he is letting the Unions dictate how the Nation's inner city young are taught, is truly amazing and alarming.

I hope Senator Cruz, Rubio, etc. are watching how the CinC is bowing down to 'his' unions over the welfare of the nation's children. Utterly disgusting!

Be careful announcing this program was instituted by Bush.

Obozo is liable to STOP the program immediately simply for that reason.

Obama’s purpose in life is to cause more racial divide and keep blacks in poverty with handouts so they’ll keep voting for the RATS.

What can be done to rescue families trapped in an inner-city culture of violence, despair and joblessness?

In 50 years since the "War on Poverty" - we have funneled $22,000,000,000,000 (TRILLION!)

http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2014/09/the-war-on-poverty-after-50-years

"In his January 1964 State of the Union address, President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed, “This administration today, here and now, declares unconditional war on poverty in America.” In the 50 years since that time, U.S. taxpayers have spent over $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs. Adjusted for inflation, this spending (which does not include Social Security or Medicare) is three times the cost of all U.S. military wars since the American Revolution. Yet progress against poverty, as measured by the U.S. Census Bureau, has been minimal, and in terms of President Johnson’s main goal of reducing the “causes” rather than the mere “consequences” of poverty, the War on Poverty has failed completely. In fact, a significant portion of the population is now less capable of self-sufficiency than it was when the War on Poverty began."

When you know you have the lost the war you surrender.

But democRATS think they can win by throwing more money at it. The war on drugs. FAILURE. The war on poverty. FAILURE.

They have produced nothing but jobs for government parasites and a continued underclass for which the democRATS exploit.

It doesn’t matter whether he’s listening. He only hears what he wants to hear. And his agenda never changes: Destroy America. Punish whitey. Promote race-baiting agitators. Sow racial strife. Punish those who work hard. Reward those who don’t.
