Jeb Bush is a leader, not to be confused with Ted Cruz’s soapbox complaining
Dallas Morning News ^ | April 30, 2015 4:03 pm | Tod Robberson

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush apparently feels comfortable enough with his standing in the field of Republican presidential hopefuls that he was willing to venture into the very turbulent waters of immigration reform on Wednesday. He recognizes what no one else in his party seems to see: that it’s not a solution to constantly snipe at proponents of immigration reform and shoot down their proposals.

If you want to lead this country, you must have a plan of action, particularly as it concerns what to do with the 11 million undocumented migrants currently in this country. Bush told an audience in Houston Wednesday that there should be a way for them to regularize their status and stay.

“We have the ability because of immigration to be an emerging country again, to be full of optimism, to believe that our future is brighter than our present. But we have to fix a broken immigration system and do it in short order,” he told members of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

Yes, it means tighter borders, he said, but it also means that 11 million people should have an alternative where they “pay a fine, where they work, where they do what they want to do, which is come out from the shadows, work, provide for their families, not receive government assistance, and over a period of time be able to receive earned legal status.”

That’s pretty bold language from a GOP presidential hopeful who knows the most active voters in the primaries will come from the hard right and will not take kindly to tolerance of what they call “amnesty.”

But precious few Republicans have been willing to stand up to the hard right and ask: Okay, then, what’s your solution to the 11 million question? If you won’t tolerate any discussion of reform

Jeb is a kick-the-can-down-the-road, out of touch, pseudo Conservative, without half the huevos of his brother.

I’m still with Cruz despite his mealymouthed excuse for missing the Lynch vote for his campaigning. Despite his membership in the slimy Senate he still has the responsibility of doing the job he is PAID by the taxpayers to do.

There is a mathematical function here: The longer he remains in that putrefied sewer the lower his chances at the nomination.

Were he truly an honorable man he’d resign his seat now, and thus he could run full time. With deference to the Civil War, he cannot serve two masters.

IMHO.

Jeb is more concerned about the 30 or 40 million illegals in the USA than about the 310 million American citizenz.

Instead of worrying about bringing Mexican illegals “out of the shadows” he should be concerned about getting the federal government’s Nanny State boot off our necks and bringing American citizens out of poverty.

From the article: “which is come out from the shadows”

These people do NOT ‘live in the shadows’. There are MILLIONS of them at Walmarts and other stores all across the country every single day. They openly protest in the streets.

They live in broad daylight and make no attempt to ‘live in the shadows’ because they don’t have to. They know they won’t get deported.

The Jebster must not get out much. I can find at least 10 illegals in less than 20 minutes.

Obama's plan to create what amounts to a political state police force is well along and Jeb Bush can think only about the welfare of the illegals.

And he thinks he's fit to lead?

Its insane.

Just remember boys and girls, to the MSM, a Republican “leads” if he takes liberal positions on issues, and a Republican “complains” or is “intransigent” if he takes conservative positions on issues.

So very TRUE.

A nation without borders is not a nation!
Folks coming here from elsewhere need to go through the same process my great, great grandfather, Ernst Bachert, did!!

Born on 20 December,1834 20 in the Hesse-Darmstadt,Germany, both his parents died when he was 13. Alone, he went to Freiburg to learn a marketable trade.
He spent the next 6 years apprenticing to learn paper making.

At age 20, he left for America, arriving at Ellis Island on October 23rd, 1854. After verification of proper documents, American sponsorship and employment, he was examined for communicable diseases BEFORE being cleared for entry!

He did not stow away on a cargo ship for Mexico so he could sneak across the border to begin availing himself of the foolishly proffered largesse of the U.S. Treasury.

BTW, he went on to introduce a new paper making techinque and founded a paper manufacturing business that supported himself, his wife and children and 3 more generations of family.

What part of illegal – as in illegal immigrant or alien – is hard to understand???

All that said, I do have one ancestor who came here who dodged the immigration hoops Ernst had to navigate. My fifth great grandfather was brought here by his parents, arriving in Virginia in 1743 at age 8. Oh yes, the surveyor’s name? George Washington!

QUESTION: What damage does the current disregard of our well-considered and once respected immigration laws by the political elites do to respect for THE RULE OF LAW IN GENERAL?
Are situations like Ferguson, Baltimore and elsewhere a manifestation of that breakdown??

And how would you feel if you were some poor schlub who, even though you have skills this country may need, jumped through all the hoops and waited for years to gain entry as you watch thousands of illegals stroll across the border to be welcomed with open arms, EBT and Social Security cards?

Jeb is in essential agreement with Hillary on almost everything that matters.

I would actually love to see them running on the same ticket.

I wouldn’t vote for them, but under no circumstance will I vote for Jeb anyway.

Cruz or Cruz.

Jeb Bush is an idiot Oligarch who only cares about his pocketbook.

That's not true. He cares very much about what the other Oligarchs (mostly dems) think of him, and he cares very, very much about being slapped on the back at Oligarch cocktail parties. He's not just an idiot Oligarch. He's an idiot with strong Oligarchic Principles.

...

They are illegal aliens and the law already determines what to do with them. I will never vote for Jeb.

We haven’t been silent, you phony. The alternative is to ENFORCE THE LAWS AND DEPORT AND STOP GIVING ILLEGAL ALIENS TAXPAYER PAID FREEBIES!

“but ignores how illegal immigration is harming Californians. “

Heck, I live in Vegas. Illegals are tinkerbells. My office was gasoline bombed by illegals in the early 90s. My storage unit picked over just five years ago by a crew we hired to move our office. Some are nice, a lot are just rats.

The Uniparty just wants to make sure we cannot elect anyone who WILL enforce the laws on fraudulently documented foreigners.

Jebster will be the next designated loser if they are able to nominate him.
They’re pretty good at it, they nominated Romneycare and McAmnesty.
