Funny thing, I've heard the exact argument above, then the same person griping about how prices are going up.
Liberals imagine everything is done with someone else’s dollar. They missed the fact that we ran out of other people's money a very long time ago.
In a good economy (not this) raising prices to cover the increased labor cost would work. In this economy, business owners will lose customers...since most folks are already struggling to pay bills and for basic necessities...and have little to nothing left over for eating out. This minimum wage mandate will price many Americans out of a lot of things. Quite deliberately, of course.
I’d raise my prices to meet the increase...and post a big sign in the front window.
It's even more critical in the mom and pop establishments.
I’d hate to own a pizza shop in Seattle anywhere near the city line. Northern Massachusetts (sales tax 6.25% or 7.00% - local option) is a retail dead zone, when you’re five minutes from tax free New Hampshire you ain’t gonna sell a lot of laptops, liquor or appliances.
2 bucks more per hour per person over the day can add up....
-——What’s the problem? Raise your prices. If a couple bucks more cost per hour is going to close your business, then you shouldn’t be open in the first place...-——
Except it isn’t just a couple of bucks....
For every dollar in wages you pay as an employer, there are payroll added costs like additional SS, Medicaid taxes, additional unemployment insurance, state and federal...
Depends on the job and hourly rate, add on between 25 to 35 % more...
That additional payroll and cost can cost a small business $ 15,000 or more a year....eat up their profit in a heartbeat...
most liberals don’t understand that if you raise the minim wage you horribly mess up the lower wage worker. upping the minimum wage causes inflation to hit 3-6 moths later as the markets adjust to having to pay the higher wage. because of this all that happens is that the loyal worker that has slowly seen his wages go up because the employer values the employee suddenly looses what ever pay differential they have from the newly hired workers. when this happens the same worker is having to deal with the inflation caused by the increase in minimum wage so the reality for a person working at a low paying job is that they loose purchasing power.
Then those liberals should be forced to patronize her now, more expensive pizza place.
Ah, rainbows and unicorns and all will be right in the world.
The stupid is strong with this one.
