The truth about Freddie Gray's 'pre-existing injury from car accident' [FR mentioned]
The Baltimore Sun ^ | April 29, 2015 | Mark Puente and Doug Donovan

Posted on 04/29/2015 2:45:29 PM PDT by donna

Online reports are swirling that Freddie Gray had spinal surgery shortly before he died in police custody, and had collected a payout in a settlement from a car accident. Those reports — which raise questions about the injury that led to his death in April 19 — point to Howard County court records as proof.

But court records examined Wednesday by The Baltimore Sun show the case had nothing to do with a car accident or a spine injury. Instead, they are connected to a lawsuit alleging that Gray and his sister were injured by exposure to lead paint.

FYI, there is about a 99% chance anything posted on godlikeprodutions.com is total manure. It’s a site for the kookiest of the kooky.

Here is email that I sent to the BS reporters:

The fact of the matter is that Free Republic is not the source for this rumor disguised as a new story. It was posted on the FR forum from a blog foirthestate.co.

There then ensued a discussion that now has over 200 comments. Within an hour and a half, one of the posters, Conscience of a Conservative, had found out the facts of the matter; and he did not even have to visit the Court House.

Perhaps you would wish to enlarge and extend your story to give full and proper coverage of Free Republic’s real investigative reporting?

Sincerely

The blog admits they don't have evidence, due to HIPPA regulations. But, they claim they have other sources.

But, I think it would be helpful for everyone to remember that the investigation is continuing. The medical examiner WILL have access to Gray's prior medical history, and the post-mortem examination should be able to answer a lot of these questions.

I'd wait until that report is issued before discounting any theory or rendering judgement.

His father sued a taxi company in 2007. How did that effect his son’s health?

Are you referring to the names in the case title: Rosella Eddington and Terrance Gainey? They are just plaintiffs #1.

Freddie Gray is plaintiff #2. You can see his name right at the bottom of page 1.

That was in 2007, or 8 years ago. Freddie would likely have been under 18, so I think his parent/guardian would have had to be party to any lawsuit.

"...was not the result of rough-handling or abuse, but rather a freak accident that occurred when Gray should have been at home resting, not selling drugs. "

Anything but police brutality, right?

Who’s embarrassed? Has it occurred to you that perhaps Obama or the press fabricated this story so as to increase the doubt and confusion? Thebes done it before.

Freddie Gray Sr. Not Freddie Gray Jr.

The document doesn't say either one. Do you have other documents that make the distinction?

It's not entirely conclusive, but if you look at the case record (posted at the link) for the car accident case, you'll see that the address for the Freddie Gray in that case was 3601 Dudley Avenue. Now, here is a case record for a case involving Freddie Gray Sr. in 2008:

Note the address: 3601 Dudley Avenue.

Now, here is an arrest record for Freddie Gray Jr., at around the same time:

Note the address: 414 E. Lorraine Avenue.

And, for good measure, here's another Freddie Gray Jr. arrest record, from 2007:

Again, the address: 414 E. Lorraine Avenue.

So, taken together, the case involving the car accident invovled the Freddie Gray who lived at 3601 Dudley Avenue - that is, Freddie Gray Sr.

Once again, this "fourth estate" site is full of crap.

Well, I reckon one could critique the story through the following.

Oh, and just for good measure, here's a record of the lawsuit brought by Gray's mother against Freddie Gray Sr., seeking to establish paternity and asking for child support (just to show that it is highly, highly unlikely that Freddie Gray Jr. was living with Freddie Gray Sr.):

This "fourth estate" site really should check its facts once in a while. This is getting boring.

Meth also disolves bones so Gray’s history could explain most of whatever damage he had/is/was. But it’s obvious to us here at the farm that when the two bicycle cops picked him up his legs were already dead. Nobody else seems to see that tho. How his legs got dead would be the question. Maybe the cops ran over him with a bike? doesn’t seem like that would break a neck by itself unless the neck was already weakened by lead, meth whatever.

Bottom line is the dumbass should have taken better care of himself.

It may not be conclusive, but I think it's beyond a reasonable doubt.

Nice catch... thanks for the follow-up.

That's one question, yes. Another (possibly more troubling) question is, given how obvious it is that his legs were already dead at that point, what the heck were the officers doing just shoving him into the van? If it was obvious on video that his legs were dead, then it was surely obvious to the officers moving him. Anyone with any medical training (police officers have at least some first responder training) knows that if a person presents with any numbness/loss of feeling/loss of mobility in their limbs after any sort of a trauma, that is a HUGE red flag. You don't move someone in that condition. You keep the person immobilized.
