In 2013, a blog post by CNN's Christiane Amanpour wondered whether America is a failed state.

America may be the only country that openly encourages foreigners to come to the country and violate its immigration laws. There is mass unemployment. There are riots in America's streets. The majority of American adults are not married. The current generation of politicians is more corrupt than any previous generation of politicians.
What is happening to America?
Many European countries are nearly as bad in this regard, but they, unlike us (collectively) are starting to see the light. Opposition parties that want to do something about immigration and multiculturalism are getting close to 20% of the vote in France. Similar candidates and parties get 1/10th of that in the US.
As to your main point, however, I agree that a nation that can't or won't control its borders is no nation at all. I'd also add that a "multicultural nation" is in many ways no nation at all.
Thanks to progressivism it has. Hopefully we can get it back on track after 2016.
Hillary has been thrown under the bus.
Get rid of any marriage penalties and give a marriage incentive.
Pass the presumption of equal custody law in all 50 states. If parents aren't fighting over time with the kids and child support, that takes a lot of the fight and bitterness out of divorce. It also removes the incentive to be the first one that files. Which means reconciliation before and after divorce is a little easier.
Provide incentives for family counseling, including faith based family counseling.
Take charitable contributions out of standard exemption and make it direct tax credit again.
I’m not convinced.
When a state is truly failed, you don’t have to ask the question.
America has hit its rock bottom.
I still feel a very strong kinship to an American when I’m lucky enough to run across one here and there.
In other words: if you’re asking the question, there’s hope.
period.
PS. Thank god for Asia
PPS. Get the hell out of there! (Australia comes to mind)
I’m sure the ‘rats have someone else
“with their eye on the handle”
Well you don’t expect these highly moral ‘conservatives’ to admit they were wrong do you? No SJB. You, me and the rest of us ‘purists’ that warned of exactly this happening are the idiots. It’s US who voted conservative and refused to flush our beliefs that are responsible for the people THEY WILLFULLY ELECTED.
That’s right, generations of Americans have been too uninformed to guard freedom.

With ferals buying big screens and steak? Thats an awful loose definition of the bottom. Wait till the ATMs stop working. Then you’ll see bottom.
We were cursed when we abandoned God (1962), accepted infanticide (1973) and sodomy (1965).
We are now just reaping the whirlwind
So, true, and people such as the uninformed of NC who insisted on nominating the Jebbie-oriented Tillis and the MS people for Cochran, and the TN uninformed for Corker and Alexander. The Texans who demanded Cornball; the list is endless.
One thing we rarely mention here is this:
If we keep electing GOPe’s, there is NO need for an opposition party.
Have you read or listened to Johathan Cahn’s “Harbinger”?
When ‘we’ take responsibility for our mistakes and the enemy within, AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM, then we can begin clawing out of the boiling pot. As long as libs infest the right spreading RINO/liberalism, we are dead in that water.
But no one wants to offend their online friends...which is obviously a greater concern than their country.
I went to Armanpour’s essay and, guess what, it doesn’t contain the citation which you quoted! While the title was hers, the complaints were not.
Her little screed was from October 1, 2013 and dealt with the government shutdown which she blamed on Republican house members and an out-dated and unresponsive Constitution.
Why are you misleading us regarding this essay?
