From the article, in a note sent to the student's parents:

... If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it....

A potato sandwich is considered healthy?

Well, everybody knows that Oreos are a gateway cookie. Let kids eat those and the next thing you know they are looking for a bigger thrill. Sooner or later they start hitting the Pepperidge Farm Sausalitos, very addictive.

Every conservative should pull their kids out of government schools. We did. It’s not easy living on one income, but possible.

Considering the teacher is clearly an idiot when it comes to nutrition, I think I’ll leave it up to the parents.

The most important lesson for all the kiddies to get from this:

Petty bureaucrats trump parents.

How on earth does the school have the time and resources to investigate the lunch of every single student ?

"Dear Parents, it is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a heavy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone's participation."

This teacher is an abject moron who knows nothing about nutrition.

The kids should take the rainbow oreos. Then they can tell school administrators they are homophobic if they’re not allowed to eat them.

If I read the report correctly the kid was not allowed to eat her lunch because it wasn’t healthy enough? Just starve the child. Perfect.

Who the hell are these thugs going in to the teaching industry? I have said many times that the education industry is little more than a jobs program for failures and wannabe tyrants. Sure, the 5% of good teachers look bad compared to the rest. But my God. What kind of petty tyrant is going to take the food from a kid? Oh yeah. We have one in the white hut and her husband.

My nephew-in-law attends a public school in the USA.

He was forbidden to take a lunch from home — everyone was required to eat the school lunch. I assume this had something to do with school funding and Michele Obama.

He keeps kosher.

My brother-in-law-in-law (a lawyer) pointed out that if they intended to forbid take-from-home foods, they were required to provide kosher meals, which requires a wholly separate kitchen, utensils, kosher food, etc.

The edict was promptly withdrawn.
