Why after 18 months locked in a chilly pattern, there's no warmup in sight for N.J.

....... If a chill in the air seems familiar, it's because New Jersey has more or less been locked in the same pattern for the last year and a half or more.

"What we've basically seen for nearly the last two years is that the ridge in the west and a trough in the east," said David Robinson, the state climatologist at Rutgers University. "And that's producing the record heat in the west and keeping things predominantly cold here."

While the pattern has relaxed at times, such as during the last few weeks, it has more or less been in place since the fall of 2013, according to Robinson. It's produced one of the cooler long-term periods in New Jersey in many years and, unfortunately for those hoping for a quick transition to summer, doesn't appear as though it's going to shift in the foreseeable future.

So global warming is affecting only half of N.J. ?

The other half is being affected by global cooling?

Must be that mysterious thing called “weather”

There’s no doubt it’s been warmer than usual in Northern California. We had a string of days in the 80s in March. We were all actually missing our “winter” with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. Things have reverted to the mean now and mornings are chilly in the mid 50s.

Glad to hear we sucked our extra heat out of NJ. We deserve it since we are a wee bit less liberal.

But the dingalings are claiming the warmth in CA is manmade, while they are silent on the cooling elsewhere.

Joe Bastardi has predicted a warming trend in 10 days for the East. He has also predicted the last two winters behaving as they did due to the warm waters in the eastern pacific which this article refers to as a “warm blob”.

If NJ is using tax dollars to fund a state climatologist they are being ripped off.

They are not silent - on cooling - they believe that global warming causes cooling too!

It's 35 degrees here right now, but we just consider that "cool."

:^)

I’m not complaining. I don’t like the NJ when it’s hot and humid.

This morning is lovely, and the coolness is perfect sleeping weather.

I’m griping now, but I’ll be happy if it sticks around this summer.

Kalif. ‘a wee bit less liberal’
now that deserves some thot.
Christie vs Brown ? I think you lose on that measurement.

Raises the question of how conservative would Christie be if he faced a less liberal electorate ?.......

All attempts to explain “unexpected” variations in weather have failed miserably.

"And that's producing the record heat in the west and keeping things predominantly cold here."

Why is the heat in the west a "record", and the cold in NJ is merely "predominant"? It's because the story is a lie in order to pretend there is Global Warming. I'm in the "West", southern Texas. This is simply normal. We've had anything but "record heat". It's been hot, and it's ben cold. That's normal. We've had a sustained drought for a while, and this winter we've had sustained rain. And the stars at night are still big and bright (when it's not cloudy). We call this "weather".
