An officer who found an abandoned newborn in a garbage dumpster has been reunited with the now 25-year-old man he helped save.
Santa Ana police officer Michael Buelna and Robin Barton recently met in an emotional reunion, KABC-TV reported (http://abc7ne.ws/1QwNdzt ).
"I hoped that someday I would see him again," Buelna said.
Buelna was on duty in November 1989 when he heard a faint sound coming from a trash bin. Buelna started shifting through the trash and discovered a baby, his umbilical cord still attached. The child was just four hours old and weighed 4 pounds, 2 ounces.
"He still had all the mucus and stuff and all the trash and gravel was sticking to him," Buelna said. "I tried to give him a tiny little bit of breath, and he reacted a little bit."
Buelna wanted to adopt the boy, but another Orange County family stepped in first. They named him Robin Barton.

Wow, were they trashing babies way back then?
Evil hates life
Jesus gives it
Get it ?
Serve and protect is not DEAD... (mostly)...
Sadly, people kill babies.
I hear that’s still common in the Ganges (if that’s how you spell it) River.
It was supposed to be a pan of Bush I. However the verse content soon was forgotten and the “Rockin’ In The Free World” refrain taken as the anthem of the fall of Soviet domination, in which Bush I as well as Reagan had a hand. A condign humiliation from one viewpoint, an unmerited windfall for Young from another.
My dad was a NYC welfare case worker back in the 70s. He once had charge of an infant who was found in a garbage can, it even made the papers. My dad got to name the baby. He gave him a good name “matthew” because he said it means “child of god” and for a last name the name of the street where he was found which I won’t post here, but it was good name too, very classy.
And it does not seem to matter that there are places that will happily take the child in no questions asked.
It is nice to hear of one with a happy ending.
I had no idea...this is horrible!
Officer Michael Buelna finally got his just reward for saving this child. Hat’s off officer Buelna, you are one of the really good guys!
Malcolm X?
Succinct way to put it, and so true. Whenever I am bewildered by the passion shown over the “right”to be able to legally kill tiny babies, I have to remember that their hearts and minds are submitted to satan. They are just unaware of that fact.
No he did not name him after the Malcolm x-pressway! (Which doesn’t exist but hubby always thought it should.)
Nice story...thanks for posting...
It’s tragic what the American people will throw away.
